#2 FLORIDA STATE (28-5, 6-3 ACC)
No. 2 Florida State hosts No. 14 Wake Forest in a key ACC series this weekend at Dick Howser Stadium. Friday night's game features 2 of the top starting pitchers in the country as FSU's Trent Peterson faces Wake's Kyle Sleeth. The Seminoles lead the ACC with an ERA of 2.35 with closer Daniel Hodges leading the way (3-0, 7 saves). Hodges has not given up a run this season in 28.1 innings of work. Freshman 3B Eddy Martinez-Esteve (.371, 6 HR, 32 RBI) has the team's top batting average and home run total while junior All-American catcher Tony Richie (.331, 5 HR, 37 RBI) leads the team in RBI.
#14 WAKE FOREST (20-7, 6-2 ACC)
The Demon Deacons, ranked 14th in Collegiate Baseball this week, defeated Davidson on Wednesday by a final of 17-6 to improve to 20-7 on the season. Right-hander Kyle Sleeth (6-0, 1.56 ERA) has tied the NCAA record for consecutive victories and will attempt to set the record Friday night. Sleeth has won 26 straight decisions. Lefty Tim Morley (2-1, 4.45 ERA) will start Saturday with Sunday's starter TBA. OF Ryan Johnson (.452, 8 HR, 31 RBI) is the team's top hitter while 3B Jamie D'Antona (.429, 9 HR, 49 RBI) leads the Deacons in HR and RBI.
THE SERIES
Florida State leads the all-time series with Wake Forest 50-15, which dates back to 1962. The Seminoles have won 10 straight home contests over the Demon Deacons with Wake's last win in Tallahassee coming in 1995. FSU split with WFU last year, losing two of three in Winston-Salem before defeating the Demon Deacons in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament.
