If Syracuse/BC were to join the ACC would they/ could they play baseball in the league? I mean there is no way you could play baseball in March or whenever College Baseball starts in Boston or Syracuse, NY. There would still be snow on the ground...Would they simply continue to not play baseball at the schools?

Not sure about BC, but they've said that 'Cuse doesn't have a baseball team for that reason. I guess we'd just have 10 teams playing baseball. Or maybe just 9 - Miami is an independent in baseball so I'm not sure if they have to play in the ACC as well or not.

Somehow I don't think the ACC is going to change their rules for Miami. The ACC requires its member schools to be full members in all sports in which they participate...none of this "well, we'll be ACC for everything but Sport X, Y & Z".

Each school chooses which sports it wishes to offer. Syracuse does not have to offer baseball, just like GT does not offer women's golf, Wake doesn't offer swimming, etc.

Actually, I think you will find that Mami, WANTS to
play in the league in baseball. Lower travel costs
and much easier to set a schedule.

Because of travel costs with non-revenue sports...
ALL conferences make allowances.

POINT: The University of Kentucky Men's and
Women's Soccer teams play in the MAC!

As you already ponted out...All the schools do not
field the same sports.

This entire thing is about money...

Ain't no money gonna be made in what conf...BC
places its Field Hockey team.

This is about Football and Basketball...this is about
money...and that dispels the theory of the ACC
making exceptions. It gave Florida State "Preference
of schedule...didn't it?"

the Miami baseball coach was thrilled to play in the ACC

Miami already plays most ACC schools. so it wouldn't be too hard to add the few schools it does not play

You're right LL. But in a way, it's bad for FSU because we played Miami 6 games every year (3 in Tallahassee and 3 in Coral Gables) and now that won't happen any more. Oh well, I'll be glad though that Miami is in our conference. :D

I dont follow college baseball much but I assume thatt 6 times is more than what you would play a team in conference play....Since it seems to be a rivalry you could do what Indiana/Purdue did this past season in basketball they were only scheduled to play once in conference so to keep up with the rivalry or whatever they scheduled eachother for a game out of conference as well. I would assume that if the 6 games is a big deal they would be able to do this in baseball as well...
