Three people were shot early Friday morning at the Plush Club at 380 Beale during a 25th birthday party North Memphis rapper Yo Gotti.
Gotti, whose real name is Mario Mims, was at the club during the shooting but was not injured.

More than 500 people were crowded into the club at about 3 a.m. when security officers said they heard a shot near the rear of the building.
The crowd scattered into the street and police found three men inside who were shot.

One man was shot in the stomach and is in stable condition at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis. The bullet apparently passed through that victim and hit two others who were not seriously injured.

Two large groups of men were apparently arguing before the shooting, said Memphis police Sgt. Vincent Higgins.

So far no one has come forward with information, "which I find shocking," said Higgins.

Arthur Horne III, Gotti's attorney, said the shooting had nothing to do with Gotti, who was still in the club at the time.

"He was not injured nor did he participate in a shooting," Horne said. "He does not condone this type of behavior. His prayers go out to the injured people."

Gotti will release his new CD, Back 2 Da Basics, on Tuesday. His song "Full Time" was part of the "Hustle & Flow" soundtrack.

Whoa, Tom, you mean you're not bent out of shape about the police handling this all non-chalantly like they don't care?

After your ranting and raving about a rock throwing, I wouldn't think you'd be yawning over a shooting, I figured you'd be up in arms (no pun intended).

The main thing from the reporter is "Gotti will release his new CD", and
"He was not injured, NOR DID HE PARTICIPATE in the shooting".

That's comforting.

How sick.

I wonder how this is Tiger related. 07-coffee3

When I read the sentences about his record release 'publicity stunt' popped into my mind. The more crap around these people the more records they sell to suburban white kids. Pay some dude ten grand to take a gut shot and your 'street cred' gets a nice bump.

Three shot inside the club and the co owner accused of punching a woman at another location. Time to close down the plush club. With the clubs history either they scan EVERYONE or close the doors. D+D was open for years with little trouble till they added an urban night and that was the ONLY night there was trouble at the club. They were forced to close. So time to close the plush club.

You watch the Sopranos too much.

All this, right by FEF, too. I guess that means no more basketball games for some.

This club has always had problems. It is time for the Beale St district to take it back and try to get something in there that isn't a sh!thole so the eastern side can grow.

No, its not going to end. This kind of behavior is desired and glorified in that culture and scene.
