Game of the Week
Miami (5-0) at Florida State (5-0) - 12 pm EST ABC
Why to watch: It's Miami and Florida State, and both teams are unbeaten. Do you really need anyone to give you a reason to watch this? Miami hasn't looked like Miami this year struggling against mediocre Florida and West Virginia teams, but a win in Tallahassee can show that the Canes really are back to being the national title contenders that every always expects them to be. Florida State isn't quite the monster it was a few years ago, but it's still playing defense as well as anyone in America and getting sharper on offense. This could be FSU's biggest obstacle between shooting for an ACC title this season, and shooting for a national championship.
Why Miami might win: You can use all the stats and all the hard data you want, but if Miami and Florida State are playing in a really big game, the Canes always finds a way to pull it out. The Noles might have one of the nation's top five defenses, but they haven't faced a real offense yet. However ...
Why Florida State might win: ... Florida State might still not face a real offense this week. The Canes have been downright stagnant at times this year with little to no rushing attack, and now Frank Gore is out. If Miami struggles over the first three quarters like it did against Florida and West Virginia, FSU should come up with the win.
Who to watch: Miami starting strong safety Maurice Sikes is definitely out with a sprained knee. He'll be replaced by sophomore Brandon Meriweather or sophomore Greg Threat. With Gore out for the season, senior Jason Geathers is back practicing at tailback and will be used as both a tailback and wideout. The Seminoles get starting linebacker Kendyll Pope and backup tailbacks Leon Washington and Lorenzo Booker back. Pope has missed time with a knee/hamstring injury, but now appears to be at full speed, while Washington (dislocated right elbow) and Booker (knee sprain/ankle) will be back into the rotation to help starter Greg Jones carry the load at tailback.
What will happen: Everything points to a Florida State win. The Noles are healthier, playing better, and should have a raucous home crowd waiting to pounce on Miami's every mistake. Take the Canes anyway. Miami finds ways to win games it shouldn't, and will do it against the Noles with defense and special teams.
CFN Prediction: Miami 23 ... Florida State 20

And the Odds in the newspaper showed 5 point win for the Seminoles on Monday and Tuesday is was up to a 6-point win. So who do ya believe.

Can the Hurricanes stop the FSU running game with Greg Jones, Lorenzo Booker and Leon Washington? I seriously doubt it. They couldn't stop Jones last year...

In last week's game, Miami only scores one touchdown... the rest of their points came on field goals. Can't win the BIG game that way...

You can't base anything on the spread or how a team performs against a different team. You have to look at the teams alone. Miami is not as good as they were last year. They lost a lot of key people. FSU is better than last year. Is Miami as good as FSU? I think they are about even. I mean both have flaws and both can be beaten. It should be a good game.

FSU and Miami have played 46 games with Miami having 26 wins to Florida State's 20. It is usually a GREAT game to watch.

Miami is not even close to being as good as FSU is. But that doesn't mean they can't win. I've seen them year after year, come back in the 4th quarter and find a way to win. Will the Noles let it happen this year? I sure hope not.

Seminoles by 10. :D

Then why do coaches and players watch so much film of another team to prepare for them???

Kirk Carruthers...former FSU Linebacker was
quoted immediately after the '91 game (The
first wide-right)

"By the time the fourth quarter began, we knew we
were the better team and Miami knew they were
going to win!"

Yet...with all the heartbreaks of the wide-lefts and
wide rights...I still believe this year is different.

This Miami team is not a typical Miami team...

Getting Washington and Booker back...certainly
won't hurt and Miami losing their safety may hurt
them more than losing Gore...We clamped McGhee
down for 3 and 1/2 quarters last year...Gore wasn't
going to hurt us.

Nah...Slipping Booker or Washington over the middle
with some rookie back there at Safety...will help us.

Still believe...we'll win this thing, going away...

34-17

Lock of the week. Anytime you get Miami plus points, bet the mortgage. Neither team has proven themselves with their weak schedules. FSU's schedule strength currently ranks 49th in the nation and UM's ranks 54th.

Take the points and bet the farm.

Sure missed that one against Colorado, but I still think UF will beat you and I still think 9-3 or 8-4 is a distinct possiblity.

Metro, of course we haven't played Florida yet. But some of this goes back to last year. Georgia's only lost was to Florida, where on the other hand Florida State killed the gaytors. The gaytors weren't half bad last year, but this year, it's looking very bleak. And unless we lose players to season ending injuries, the Seminoles will once again will slay the gaytors.

I'm basically laughing at UGI for some of the things he says. Get it?

By the way, I saw a post on Warchant.com from a Hurricane that predicts the Seminoles will beat his Canes 24-20. He had a GREAT analysis of the game and was pretty accurate. Go figure...

You gotta be freakin kidding me granny! You're still stuck on this almost a year later? If we're going to go back to last season, then why not just mention the ONLY game that mattered when comparing UGA to FSU.

Lol, did he just call you granny? He did!

Well I guess it comes down to this.

And if you ever want to get the blood boiling and excuses flowing just mention UF domination of UGA to an UGA fan.

My granddaughter will be 5 months old next week (on the 15th) so it really is true that I'm a granny. An honor, really, that every parent hopes to become one day. :D

And yeah, you're right, how to make a Georgia fan  mention Florida's domination over them...

Well hell yes it pisses us off. We hate UF as much, if not more than you guys do, however everytime you mention UF in the same sentence with UGA, you are comparing us to FSU.

The old tired comparison....we beat them and they beat you so we must be better than you.

But always remember granny...............

UGA BEAT FSU!!
