Quote:Anyone who's been to the Atlantic Coast Conference men's basketball tournament knows about the long opening day of four games stretching from noon until nearly midnight.

With expansion, you can expect two long days.

League officials released the new men's and women's basketball tournament brackets at their meeting in Amelia Island, Florida.

The eleven-team bracket for the 2004-2005 season gives the top five seeds byes to the quarterfinals and calls for three preliminary games on the opening day of the four-day tournament.

In the 12-team bracket, which goes into effect with the arrival of Boston College, four teams receive byes to the quarterfinals, where each will play the winner of a preliminary game.

That means two days of four games at the ACC tournament beginning in 2006.
