Some of you may recall BYU recruited a Olineman #321 who ran a 4.75 forty! Well he played last year but the new Oline coach from ASU has him on the 2nd string. He balloned up to 355 over the season. Some have suggested its pure motivation to produce more effort. I don't think so!Are there any Olinemen in the ACC with a 'six pack' or some good photos of shirtless Olinemen you don't have to put a fork in to turn them over? I've been challenged to find one.

Try this for a more elaborate explannation. BYU recruits the number one HS Olineman in the country. He is 6-3 321 pounds and runs a 4.75 foty in HS Nike camp in Texas. He enrolls at BYU and starts immediately. Over the course of the season he balloons up to 355. This winter BYU hires a new Oline coach from ASU (GRIMES) who listed the starter on the 2nd team for the spring intersquad game. Some BYU fans are saying he's just 'THICK' not fat. I thought FAT meant your Bank account not you physical waistline. The ensuing banter someone challenged me to find any Olineman with a '6 pack' weight. I'm not sure there is one but round is for ballons not people. He likely start but thick or FAT the weight is the same!

If you have to ask ....nothing! Are all 'Olinemen' in the ACC FAT! We are looking for examples of some Olinemen that aren't FAT!

This is a very strange thread, but because of lack of any discussions around here, I'll leave it open just to see where this goes...

This guy doesn't look very "FAT"

I guess I'll attempt a serious answer to the original question. I don't think all OL are fat necessarily, but they've all got to be big. And, they don't really have to move around that much (not in comparison to other positions, at least). So, it makes sense for the biggest, slowest, fattest guys to be OL.

Of course you want muscular guys, but the problem is that most muscular guys are slimmer. The stronger guys are going to be the bigger ones -- like when you watch the Worlds Strongest Man competition and see that the guys who look the fattest are usually the strongest. It's even more so with an offensive lineman, because those guys can't be pushed around.

As long as an OL can move around enough to stay in front of a defensive lineman, then I think you're set. If this guy ran a 4.75 forty before, then I'm sure he's still got some good quickness (even with the extra weight).

Oh, and if you have an offensive lineman with a real six-pack, then he's probably going to get pushed around a lot. I doubt there are any in the ACC like that.
