From tonight on Rivals:
"On paper, Derrick Caracter looked like the guy to have the better game against Patterson but his six points six rebound performance was overshadowed by a stellar game from Memphis signee Hashim Bailey. The 6-foot-10 mammoth of a forward looked very impressive with his 17 points and seven rebounds. The guy they call "Big City" was running the floor and doing things you wouldn't expect a 275-pound forward doing. He has a soft touch around the bucket and went to work on the blocks. John Calipari, one of the few head coaches that made it out to the NPT, and the pair of Memphis assistants had to be happy with what they saw."

I had no idea he was that big. He's Cooper's size. Those will be a couple of wide bodies inside next year.

You have lost your mind. Dorsey is on the verge of being a huge force. Bailey is sounding better than I thought and Cal has commented on his recent progress, but Joey is a post move away from an NBA career.
That said, I am excited about having big men who can actually play (no offense to Red and OG, who played their hearts out at the end of last year).

It's looking more and more that we'll be okay even though we didn't get Young isn't...
Starting line-up next year will be at best:
Darius Washington
Antonio Anderson
Shawne Williams
Joey Dorsey
Kareem Cooper
and at worst
Andre Allen or Willie Kemp
CDR
Antonio Anderson
Pierre Niles
Joey Dorsey...
Either way, I think we gon' be aight...

More notes from Scout.com:
"Memphis head coach John Calipari was in to see Hashim Bailey and wing Tyler Smith. In fact, Calipari brought two assistants with him to see Smith. Charlotte and Iowa also had representatives in the building. …"
"Tyler Smith didn’t shoot the ball well from deep today, but did exhibit a stronger mid-range game, especially on the baselines. Overall, his game is more well-rounded than it was at this time last season. He’s got a better pace to his play. …"
"Hashim Bailey, C, Patterson: “Big City

thanks for the info 85. I think Tyler would be a perfect fit for us. Also, more from Prepstars on the RI tournament....
"A guy who understands how to use his size and strength in the paint is a much improved Hashim Bailey. Dubbed "Big City" by his Patterson teammates, the 6-10, 275-pounder is the only legitimate big man on a perimeter-oriented team and he's been putting in work. Some questioned John Calipari and Memphis for taking his commitment, but he's made them look pretty good so far. ... "

Agreed. The exact words out of my mouth were, "HE'S TWO SEVENTY-FIVE?!"

That kid just needs to be introduces to a jump rope and the Karl Malone jump rope workout.
If he has touch, and he has legs for a big he will be what we need.
I would like to see him able to bounce and move. Cooper is still a little slow foot. And Cooper needs to work on jumping more for rebounds. Legs, legs, legs. Hopefully by next year. . .
I think it is funny that TY didn't want to come because he said he wanted to go to a school that had bigs. We have more than GT. Good luck playing the post where in the ACC you will get put in the rack.

This is great news! A Tiger recruit outdoing a Loserville recruit But what about the Polish kid from GA? Are we still wanting him?
Our front line next year could look like this after a summer in the weight room, and assuming SW goes pro:
Dorsey 6-9 255 JR
Cooper 6-11 265 SO (down 20 lbs)
Dozier 6-9 220 SO (up 15 lbs)
Niles 6-8 250 FR
Bailey 6-10 250 FR
Polish kid 6-11 280 FR?
That is HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is absolutely ridiculous. With Niles and Big City coming in and possibly the Polish kid, joining Kareem and Dorsey, we would have one of the best big man teams in the country, if not the best.
Add them with the gaurds and forwards we have, we will be freakish. And if only Carney leaves, we would be something like 15 deep of talented players that could contribute alot their first year. Unbelievable!!!

Well said. But if we only lose Carney then we would be a guaranteed Top 3 pick to start next year.

I'm reading Bailey weighs in, from parts unknown, at 6-10 275.

Oops, you're right. My bad. But I wonder if Cal will want him to lose that weight to be even more mobile in our style of play? Remember Cooper lost 30 pounds from last year to this year to be more in Cal's vision of playing shape.
