we need some anthony douglas, ben spiva type players.

Anthony Douglas had game; and he played hard every second he was in the game.

Definately not any more Ben Spiva's or Sherriff's.

With Cal's recruiting Memphis doesn't have to settle for a recruit just because they're local!!!

ben spiva wa a force inside. he controlled the lane. no comparison to james harris. if you ever saw spiva and douglas together on the court you would know what i'm talking about. spiva and douglas were men playing against boys, think chris massies senior year, without the offense. spiva was much more than a "pretty face", to compare him to james harris shows me you don't know or remember much about that era of tiger bb. spiva was a hoss. he and douglas together, i can assure you, kept everyone out of the lane. they were physical giants, big and wide.

the following from the georgia elite magazine: Kristoff 31 points leads Community Christian Varsity

11/9/2005- 6'11 Sr Ctr Kristoff Janiszewski, is looking hard at the University of Memphis. His 31-point 16 rebound effort in leading Community Christian Varsity to a 64-59 win over Greater Gwinnett Christian showed that Memphis has found the right guy. "Kristoff was unstoppable tonight." said head coach Lloyd Parham. "He is the most under-rated bigman in America." But college coaches are beginning to take notice. Eastern Michigan University has joined in on the Kristoff sweepstakes and Birmingham Southern. Coaches are beginning to notice that he can make an impact at the next level. "Kristoff is perfect for a program that has a athletic power-forward." said Parham. "Kristoff takes up a lot of space. He runs the floor, and he is simply unstoppable around the basket." 6'7 Soph WF Vincent Rogers added 16 points for Community Christian.

Commercial Appeal reports Calipari may be flying to GA.

If we are competing w/ Eastern Mich Univ or Birmingham Southern.......this kid sounds like a project. I wonder if any D1 recruiting him?

However, Cal must see something if this kid if he willing to extent a scholl to him.

I never said ben spiva was a great player only that he is a physical force inside with douglas and certainly a far better player than james harris. douglas was far superior to spiva no doubt, but defensively they were similar enforcers, something the Tigers have needed for a long while. we need a strong post presence even if its only a 6'7" mean and nasty widebody is my point. whats yours?

from playmakers101.com PLAYMAKERS 101. COM

Kristoff "MISU" Janiszewski 6' 11" 300 lbs

It's only Wednesday and yet we at PLAYMAKERS101 have already selected our PLAYMAKER of the week. On Tuesday night Kristoff came off the the court with a career night that consisted of 31 points, 16 rebounds and 6 blocks. He led the Community Christian School Varsity team to a 64-59 home win over the visiting GGC Barons. Kristoff has been pretty much slept on by most of America, but now the Polish Giant is starting to make noise. Schools such as MEMPHIS, EASTERN MICHIGAN and BIRMINGHAM SOUTHERN are now in a tight race to land this kid to their repected universities. Keep a close watch on MISU he is a dominate force in the middle that teams simply have no answer for.

NEAA

National Elite Athletic Association

Mark your calendar for November 9-12, 2005. Why? Because some of the best basketball talent in the USA will desend upon Community Christian School in Stockbridge, GA to kickoff the most exciting basketball league for ELITE players. Yep, I'm talking about the NEAA NIT Tournament that will consist of 12 ELITE powerhouse schools. The following schools will be in attendance:

Community Christian- Stockbridge,GA Calvary Christian- Los Angeles, CA

Toronto Academy Prep- Toronto, Canada Sound Doctrine- LaGrange, GA

Genesis ONE- Mendenhall, MS Boys to Men Academy- Chicago, IL

Covenant Christian- Marietta, GA Stoneridge Prep- Los Angeles, CA

Patterson Prep- Durham, NC Florida Prep- Port Charlotte, FL

Greater Atlanta Adventist- Atlanta, GA Harmony Prep- Cincinnati, OH

College coaches will be on hand to evaluate prospects, so basketball fans this should be a special treat. And of course the PLAYMAKERS101.com staff will be on hand for VIDEO, PHOTOS and INTERVIEWS.

Nope, they got it wrong. Here is the actual quote -

According to Davis, Memphis, Alabama, Utah and Eastern Michigan are all involved. One advantage the Tigers might have is that Davis is tight with Calipari, proof being that he runs the Georgia Elite AAU program that has in recent years supplied the UofM with Anthony Rice, Almamy Thiero and Robert Dozier.

"I think Coach Cal is the best in the business," Davis said. "So any time he has an interest in our players, I tell our players that if they want to play for a former pro coach who knows how to get you to the next level, then they have to take a look at Coach Cal."

Considering nothing else has been said about this guy, I'm assuming he signed elsewhere?

Staff will watch him in person more going towards the late signing period, one night he puts up big numbers, other nights he doesn't, he neds to be evaluated vs. good competition.

The Class looks good but do you think we are looking to bring in a couple more beside the Polish kid?

I wouldn't mind seeing Namady N'Daiye?

Tyler Smith, the SF we need and didn't get to sign because of the recruiting process (waiting on TY = no S Robinson, Weems).

He could start from day one.

I'm surprised no one has come up with the nickname "10-foot Pole" cause no one can touch Memphis with a "10-foot Pole"!!!!

Hearing that we are looking to sign another big makes me wonder if any of our signees may have potential eligibility problems. Bailey was reported to not be making the grades at one shady prep school so he was moved to a more shady prep school and if I remember correctly, the school Niles is at was reported to be having trouble staying afloat.

Our new system only calls for one "big". We already have Dorsey and Cooper returning and Bailey and Niles signed. We need wings, we know we will loose Rodney and we could loose Shawne as well and our new system calls for more wing players than "bigs". Ricky Sanchez would have been a great fit had he not decided to go pro in some third world country.

This is only Niles' 4th year so he could reclassify and become part of the '07 class if things were to fall apart at Florida Prep. I think Bailey is already a fifth year player.

Even if Shawne and DWash depart, we would be fine on the perimeter with WK, Willis, Anderson, Roberts, Andre and Dozier. Look for both Niles and Bailey to be eligible

Add Tyler Smith and the train keeps rolling.

I agree the guard and wing spots look to be okay. In fact that is one of the reasons why TY didn't want to come. Competition. Tyler would be a great addition and adds lots of athletic ability.

Easterwood you didn't answer my question about Namady? Also there are two sf Jefferson and Lance Thomas i believe will wait until the spring can Cal get in with them?

That will heal alot of wounds if Tyler or Lance Thomas signs withus. Wouldn't miss TY at all.

Also, I talked to some friends here in St Louis and there was a time when Alex Tyus liked Cal. What happened?

It would be great if in the spring we could get
Smith or (Lance Thomas), Polish Kid, Namady,

That would put the class at
Willie Kemp
Trevon Willis
Tyler Smith
Pierre Niles
Namady N'diaye
Polish King

That would load us up in the post where I think will take us to a top three team in the nation.

I don't think Memphis will be involved with Thomas or Jefferson, not sure about the kid in St. Louis and his recruitment.
Ndayde is a possibility, we've been burned by foriegners before, he'll be analyzed before the late signing period also.
