He isn't even the best player on his own team. For my money, Jamaal Levy, Eric Williams (when not in foul trouble) and Justin Gray are clearly better than him. He's fast and can pass, but his defense and shot are both very suspect.
For now, Julius Hodge, John Gilchrist, Raymond Felton, Shelden Williams and BJ Elder are really the only people who should be considered likely candidates.

I would add Justin Gray to that list, actually.

I think it is fair to put Paul on the list, but not the favorite. I would add McCants to that list by the way.
Darkhorses: Sean May, Luke Schenscher, JJ Redick, Justin Gray

So much of the preseason hype for Chris Paul was the "frosh->soph leap" that people like Jason Williams of Duke made. Also, people put so much stock into the fact that he led the ACC in steals last season. Great feat, but certainly blown out of proportion. So far, Chris Paul has shown very little this season. In addition, last year he was often outplayed by ACC PGs like Chris Duhon and IIRC, Raymond Felton and Jarrett Jack.
His assist/TO ratio has never been above 2.2/1, and is only 1.6/1 this year. I have a hard time believing that a guy who averages 3 TO/game as a PG can be the ACC POY. In addition, Paul's mediocre play this year has been against cupcakes with the exception of Arizona.

I would substitute JJ Redick for Daniel Ewing. I think Ewing is a much better all-around player. Redick may have improved his overall game, but I am skeptical until I see him do it against real competition.
I'm really not a big fan of Rashad McCants. When I think of "ACC POY", I think of someone who not only scores, rebounds, passes and plays good defense, but someone who makes those around him better, and adds to the team dynamic. Even Rashad's teammates have confronted him about being unapproachable. A more apt name would be Rashad McCancer, IMO.

It's way too early to tell...I'll wait until conference play starts until I say anything.

I caught them all, and heard Santa Clara on the radio. If you really think Rashad McCants is better than Raymond Felton, pass me some of that stuff you're smoking.

IMO, Raymond Felton is the best PG in the nation and it isn't even remotely close.

I think both Felton and Paul have gotten wayyyyy to much hype. Now don't get me wrong, UNC is much better with Felton, but I think everyone is overlooking Jarrett Jack.

You mean a GT fan thinks everyone is overlooking Jarrett Jack?
I wouldn't call myself a UNC fan, and Raymond Felton would mop the floor with Jarrett Jack, Sean Dockery, Chris Paul and John Gilchrist.

I would say Jarrett Jack has shown himself to be the best PG in the ACC so far this year.
As far as last year, Chris Duhon couldn't carry the jocks of Jack or Paul.

I'd say Duhon was better than Jack and worse than Paul last year. Chris Duhon's greatest strength was being a team leader and not making too many mistakes. His offense and shooting left much to be desired.
