I'd really love to see us land either Govan or Woodall. C'mon..... Both would be nice!

This doesn't mean much but our recruiting has dropped off each year since 02 according to Rivals.

Randy Fitchner has said that we would never be caught in this predicment again, that in the coming season we would start the season with five qtr. backs.....
So that leaves me to think we will sign at least one qtr. back. who I havent the faintest........

To my way of thinking, the signing of at least three def. linemen, and the same # of offensive linemen, a couple of LB's, a couple speedy wide-outs, always sign the best running back you can find,(but only if he is as good as the ones you have already)
I guess the bottom line is, sign a normal recruiting class, with looking for def. linemen the top priorty...

I would agree. . .D-linemen seems to be the priority, although we have some good youngsters on their way (Mississippi transfers J. Brown and C. Mills, G. Terrell, etc.). We need some size definitely along the line. A pass rusher or two would be GREAT.
Linebacker and o-linemen should also be a top priority.

I would imagine those are the priority every year, it is just whether you can land the impact guys or not - if not, you sign a few guys, redshirt them, get them in the system, and hope they develop in the next few years - it has worked pretty effectively on the O-Line, but not so well at DL or LB (except maybe Marcus West and Quinton McCrary)............

Personally, I don't think we can land those 4 star d-linemen coming out of h.s., because all the big programs go after them hard and heavy. I do like our philosophy in recent years, however, of signing those light, athletic 6-3 or 6-4 guys that play the line or LB in h.s., putting them in weight room, and seeing who can develop.
In fact, unless I'm mistaken Marcus West was a TE coming out of h.s.
However, I think we need to recruit/develop slightly bigger linebackers, or at least ones that can shed some blocks.

D-linemen are without question the hardest players to get. There is not a postion in college or the NFL where the ratio of top flight talent to positions to fill is as limited.

unfortunately this is a very strange year in the state of MS....very few offensive & defensive lineman but 7 or 8 really really good running backs.
