Hey guys, just wanted to share some news...I just found out that I'm a semifinalist for the Morehead Scholarship at UNC. The chances of receiving the prestigious scholarship are still slim, but we'll see what happens.

Haha, in fact, the first thing I was asked in my first interview was, "You must be really happy after Saturday." It was a really cool way to break the ice, and ended up being the start to a great interview. My second one was a little bit tougher, with two more intense people, but all in all I don't really have any second thoughts on it all. I'm pleased with how it went, now I just have to wait and see. Everything happens for a reason.

Unfortunately, I found out that I did not make the cut. I'm quite disappointed, but I figure it would have happened if it was meant to be, the competition is surreal. In any case, I've gotten into Mizzou's journalism school and honors program with an $8k scholly a year and MiamiFL is offering me 50% off....I will hear from UNC-CH, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Syracuse, and USC in the next few months. Getting the Morehead woulda cut back on a whole lot of decision making, haha, but it's all good. Catch ya'll later.

Is Quin Shady throwing around money again? Just kidding -- tough luck on the Morehead, but congrats on all the rest. It sounds like you have a lot of options!

Heck, do like the 99% of the nominees that don't get selected. Put "MOREHEAD SCHOLARSHIP NOMINEE" in bold letters across your application. Make the fact work for you. After all, they're very select even in their nominating process and it's obvious that you have excellent qualifications.

That doesn't mean that all academic scholarships to UNC are off the table. When you get accepted, the tuition will be quite a bit less if you're an in-stater than many other schools and if a reasonable amount of scholarship money appears, you could be in good shape. Good luck.
