Noles lose and Robinson's streak ends at 40
by FSU Sports Information

Sunday’s series finale between the sixth-ranked Seminoles and Clemson had as much drama in the ninth inning as the previous game where FSU won with a walk-off squeeze bunt.  The only difference was the drama in game two had nothing to do with the score.  Shane Robinson saw his FSU record 40-game hit streak come to an end in the final at bat of the game as Clemson (15-11, 6-3) avoided a series sweep by downing FSU (29-7, 7-2) 7-3 in Sunday’s second game of the doubleheader.

Robinson was 0-for-3 on the day and needed one base runner to reach to get a chance at tying the ACC record with his 41st consecutive game with a hit.  Brandon Manasa came up with two outs and quickly fell behind 0-2. The junior scrapped out a base hit giving Robinson one more shot. The super sophomore smoked a ball to right field but Travis Storrer was there to make the out ending Robinson’s run one game short of tying the record held by Rusty Adkins.  It was the first time since June 4, 2004 that Robinson was held without a hit.

“The only thought going through my head when I came up in the ninth was ‘if it was meant to be it was meant to be’,
