Quote:Barret Browning Shares ACC Pitcher Of The Week Honors
Junior left-hander is the first Seminole to win ACC Pitcher of the Week
honors in 2005.

Greensboro, NC - The 2005 season has been a special one for Seminole pitcher Barret Browning and things just keep getting better for the junior from Jesup, GA. Browning has emerged as the ace of the Seminole staff starting the Friday night opener in all three of FSU's ACC series and now he has collected the first ACC Pitcher of the Week award of his Seminole career. Browning shares the honor with Maryland's Ben Pfinsgraff who allowed just one run in a win over-then No. 1 Georgia Tech.

Browning started the Clemson series off in a big fashion for Florida State has he had the best start of any Seminole pitcher this year. The junior set the tone as Florida State took two of three from the Tigers in a meeting between second place teams in the conference. Browning went 7 2/3 and allowed just three hits, struck out eight, walked two and allowed just one unearned run.

The 7 2/3 innings pitched were the most by any Florida State player in 2005 and his eight K's were the second-most recorded by the junior in any game in 2005. Browning limited Clemson's 3-4-5 hitters (Taylor Harbin, Tyler Covin and Kris Harvey) to just one hit in 11 at bats and he had Colvin's number all night. The Tiger sophomore came into the game with just eight strikeouts all season and Browning struck him out four times. The Jessup, GA native started the game by not allowing a hit for 3 1/3 and improved his record to 3-0 while dropping his ERA to 1.65.

Florida State returns to action Wednesday night when they host Jacksonville at Dick Howser Stadium. Game time is 6:00 p.m. FSU took the first meeting between the teams 9-0 in Jacksonville. Florida State returns to ACC action this weekend for a three-game series with Wake Forest at Dick Howser. Sunday is Little League day and all little leaguers who wear their jersey will be admitted free. For more information, log on to the official website for FSU athletics at http://www.seminoles.com.
