Thanks JD... I got to watch the first 2 innings and the Heels were winning 2-0. I just got home from work and found out we won in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs... whew  Ryne Malone, who made 3 errors yesterday came thru for the Noles today.

The Heels are a very good team this year. You should still be very proud of them :D

Seminoles win on Malone's walk-off blast
by Drew Hankin

Ryne Malone's walk-off three-run homerun on a 1-2 count with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Florida State Seminole baseball team a 6-5 comeback victory over the North Carolina Tar Heels on Saturday afternoon.  Trailing 5-3 with two outs and the bases empty, Tony Thomas Jr reached on an infield single when the UNC third baseman couldn't handle the ball, and Shane Robinson singled before Malone belted the ball over the screen in right which gave the Noles their ninth straight win.

For the game, Malone was had a single, a triple, and a homerun, scored two runs, and drove in five.  In two games against North Carolina, Malone is 6-8 with a triple, two homeruns, two runs scored, and seven RBIs.

Mark Sauls got the start for the Tribe and pitched well through 6.2 innings, giving up four earned runs on eight hits while walking two and striking out three batters.  Matt DiBlasi threw 1.1 innings of perfect relief, and Kevin Lynch (9-0) earned the win, setting the FSU record for pitching appearances in the process.

After falling behind 2-0 in the first inning, the Seminole offense finally got going in the bottom of the third inning when Thomas and Robinson both walked and scored on a triple by Malone down the right field line.  Left fielder Gibbs Chapman then singled home Malone which gave Florida State a 3-2 edge.

Carolina answered back in the next inning with two more runs to take a 4-3 lead.  That remained the score until the seventh inning when the Heels extended their lead to 5-3 which last until Malone's heroics in the ninth.

With the win, the Seminoles moved to 45-14 on the season and 17-9 in the ACC, while the Tar Heels fell to 37-13-1 and 15-8-1 in conference play.  FSU will go for the sweep on Sunday at 1:00 pm with Hunter Jones (4-2, 4.78 ERA) on the mound.
