Kevin Lynch called it the best moment of his life – and it certainly was pretty special for the Florida State baseball team.

Lynch, in his final appearance at Dick Howser Stadium, threw 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to lead the Seminoles to a 10-4 victory over Auburn. The win sends FSU (52-18) to the super regionals and a best-of-three series against Florida next weekend.

"I just came in and threw as hard as I could because I didn't know when my last inning was," Lynch said. "At this point in the season, you've got to come in and throw like it's your last inning. I just kept building energy and energy."

That energy carried the Seminoles into the super regionals for the seventh consecutive season. It also quieted an Auburn rally that had turned a 5-0 FSU lead into a one-run game in the third inning.

FSU centerfielder Shane Robinson's two-run homer in the second capped a four-run inning by the Seminoles. But junior pitcher Mark Sauls saw the Tigers rally for four in the third inning – three on a homer from Auburn third baseman Josh Donaldson.

Though Sauls finished the inning, Lynch was given the chance in the fourth to protect FSU's lead.

He responded by allowing just five baserunners over the next 4 2/3 innings, earning his 12th win of the season -- and leaving quite an impression on Auburn players.

"Lynch came in and did what he does," Donaldson said. "He put a halt to our hitting and stopped the momentum basically for our team."

The best moment for Lynch came as he exited Dick Howser Stadium for the last time in the eighth inning. The crowd of 4,814 fans gave the senior a standing ovation and then called him back on the field for a curtain call.

Lynch sprinted out of the dugout and tipped his hat to the fans – and then got another rousing ovation as he was announced as a member of the All-Tournament team.

"I have to say it's the best feeling I've had since I've been alive," Lynch said.

Lynch was one of four FSU players on the All-Tournament team.  Robinson, freshman shortstop Ryne Jernigan and sophomore pitcher Bryan Henry were also honored.  Henry earned Most Outstanding Player honors for his complete-game victory over Auburn on Saturday night.

The Tigers advanced to Sunday's title game by beating Army 12-3 earlier in the day.

Auburn first baseman Karl Amonite, second baseman Tyler Johnstone and outfielders Clete Thomas and Bruce Edwards joined Donaldson on the All-Tournament team.
