Mercer game
Bears had a big rally at G-W (similar to what they did with us), but fell one point short in the end. Now they come to the Creek. Hopefully, the Camels want to settle a score after their meltdown in Macon! Mercer/Campbell games are almost always close and tomorrow should be a great one. Florence vs Rodriquez, too.

I kind of like CU's remaining schedule, especially after the up&down way the season has gone. It might help build some momentum heading into the tournament. Last night's win over Stetson might be the start of something!

Yea hopefully that's enough big holes that Mercer wants to create early in games. I'm also hoping we don't allow Campbell to set the pace they set with Stetson.

I hope we can build on the win over Stetson and pick up where we left off on Thursday and come up with another big win at home. It should be an exciting game and I am looking forward to it.

It was exciting alright if you were a Mercer fan. It was painful watching that game Saturday. The guys just didn't seem focussed nor did Laing. I saw too much selfish play going on and apparently so did Laing the way he was ripping into Kyle during a couple of time outs. Johnny didn't show much either. Russ is hurt with the groin and a bad ankle and I don't know why Laing continues to play him like that. In his condition it was basically a 4 on 5 game when he was in. They gotta steal one on the road this week.

It was a tough loss. I agree with the comment about Russ being injured and not playing that well. There were atleast three passes that should have been easy layups that went right through his hands and out of bounds.

He got a pass down low late in the game and fumbled the pass. By the time he recovered the defense was on him and he missed the shot (he got fouled - but of course the ref we had Saturday was not even watching the same game and did not call it). Point being that when J-Rod gets the ball and is doubled teamed the center is usually wide open. If J-Rod can make a good pass and the center can catch and lay it up we will be hard to stop in the paint. We don't seem to execute enough of those plays to win.

Also - what is the deal with one shot and done. Our guys don't seem to follow their shots for the rebound. We seem to be more interested in getting back on defense than we are on following the shots and fighting for the rebouds. If you get a foul, who cares - we need to get more offensive rebounds. Mercer sure got alot and put them home. We don't seem to be hungry to get the rebounds some times. We are just satisfied to take our shot and play defense. I don't mean to complain but I just think we give up a lot of opportunities. We need a center who can dominate in the paint. Right now we get dominated most of the time. We are able to stay in with 3's, good foul shooting and points off turnovers. Now I love that style of play but lets be serious. We get beat alot in the halfcourt game due to what I mentioned before. If we are going to continue to win games then I believe we have to be able to dominate in the halfcourt game as well as the parts of the game that we are already good in. (Also we have way to many turnovers - we threw several out of bounds to wall next to the Camels bench on Saturday) In order to do that we need an aggresive center who gets the job done and we need to be more aggressive on the offensive end while taking better care of the ball.

This is the difference in winning 20 games an competing for the conference championship or winning 10 or so games and finishing in the bottom of the conference as we are now.
