Re: Bring back ETSU football ... �the right way�

Football at ETSU was a losing program with hardly any supporters until it was terminated. Now, people all over the city are lamenting the loss of this "traditional and much-beloved sport team" - however, where were they every time the doors were opened at the mini-dome? The Buccaneers were never that popular in the community and will NEVER match U.T. There will never be enough money for the Bucs to ever be more than a mediocre team and I am glad the program was terminated and I hope to God it never returns. Its departure has freed up money that can be used successfully elsewhere and one good point is that we no longer have to deal with the football players who always managed to wreak havoc in the community and on the campus where they were housed. ETSU can have a very popular and successful basketball program - we can win championships with basketball. The football program was a loser and I am glad to see it go and I hope it never returns....I say good riddance! There are some very loud voices in the community who will decry and renounce what I have said, however I recognize their names and expect nothing less....speaking of funding and demanding that the stats be released - they are state statistics and are available if one takes the time to look them up. It is not a secret where the money went and it is not a secret that football was a losing program that sucked money from the university for years.
