First Game Announced...PFL Decision Near?
In case you missed it, the new football team at Campbell will play its first official game Aug 30, 2008 against Birmingham Southern.

Birmingham Southern is starting a D-III football program next year.

The following also says the 2008 schedule will be out in February 2007, and the games will depend on whether they are part of the Pioneer Football League. I guess a decision is about to be made.

Whatever happens, I expect Campbell to be in the PFL sooner or later.

Interesting article. I haven't heard anything more to add. All I can say is I'm fired-up with all the great stuff happening at Campbell these days (basketball, new arena, football, etc.).

Campbell may also be talking to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) about associate membership in footballl. Like the PFL, the MAAC is non-scholarship. Members are St. Peter's, Marist, Iona, Duquesne (assoc.), and La Salle (assoc.).

Duquesne is leaving the MAAC. At this point, we'll see if the MAAC folds. On the other hand, maybe they'll find a new member somewhere...
