It was a joke to watch basketball in, period. The seating stinks, the restrooms on the floor are a joke, there are basically no concessions, and no real homecourt advantage. Say what you want, it didn't exist.

How long was that home winning streak under DeChellis again?

But yeah. No home court advantage.

The fact it was a rather spacious- "big league" arena in its day whereas most of the opponents played in gyms did give a home court advantage.

I'm not saying it's the second coming of Madison Square Garden. I am saying in its time it was a rather unique place.

Trust me, the NBA ain't playing that exhibition game here in '94 at Brooks Gym.

His record against Chattanooga was fabulous, and those 4-5 thousand fans in a 12 thousand seat dome really give you an advantage. It's kind of like watching football at Wallace Wade Stadium.

Was it the arena's fault that the building wasn't filled regularly- or the community's?

Tell you the truth, you really shouldn't have trouble drawing 10,000 fans a game in this hole in the wall.

I mean, what else is there to do?

It is ABSOLUTELY THE FAULT OF THE ARENA, AND THE PRODUCT. People want to go and have a good time no matter where it is, that's why you see things like the Paper toss, the dress up and shoot game during timeouts with little kids, and every other extra amenity that ETSU is trying to get.
And let's see here, weekends, we have theatre at the Barter, three really nice movie theaters in Bristol, JC and Abingdon, people seem to have fun at The Electric Cowboy (though I don't know why), enough restaurants to where you would never eat at the same place twice in a month if you eat out, I mean it's not Atlanta, it sure as hell isn't Broadway or Printers Alley in Nashville, but it's not that size of a city population or industry wise either. For midweek games most schools have a hard time getting fannies in the seats completely, it's funny how national championships and consistently winning really dictate the interest level.
