Campbell Basketball
wow i must say that game today was the biggest improvement of the camels program in a long time. for one Rodriguez is by far the best player to come to Campbell since ive been here ... he really stepped it up. and our defense WOW, and the effort for the whole game, WOW. i think this year is the year everyone, Campbell will be a contender in the A-Sun conference, so watch out!!

Easy on the kool-aide 20, this team was not tested Saturday against a very bad DII school. Pembroke would have struggled against a fairly good DIII team. Maybe they were holding back since Billy Lee was in attendance! Billy is the head coach at St. Andrews College also of the DII ranks and his team plays Pembroke this Saturday.

Rodriguez is an interesting player he seems to find a way to get it done for someone that is not especially quick, slow and hasn't demonstrated any hops. But damn if he isn't smart about his play and that I thought showed with his ability to find the openings and tight seams to slash to the bucket or rifle a pass or snag a rebound. He will be a good one for sure. He is a Larry Bird style of player, old school which is rare any more.

I am looking forward to next Monday when they play Wilmington. If they can get by them and Coastal this Thursday then I think they may be on to something. Lastly Stan Cole wrote that the game was a sell out I am assuming that was from ticket sales because I saw planty of empty seats from those that didn't show up.

Andone, come on man... you were the one who said UNCP wasn't going to be a push over. Give our boys a little credit, lol.

J-Rod is nasty, I was a little critical about him at the beginning of the game but he shined. Jake had a very "quiet" 20 points, I never seen him be that aggessive getting to the basket. He always seemed to be content to take the outside shoot. And why hasn't anyone talked about Russ! Where the hell has that been for the last 3 seasons! Dapo being out must of lit a fire under his ass.

Our D looked good and Griffin looked healthy but we still struggled on the line, our fans seemed a bit subdued and one of our cheerleaders almost fell and broke their head.

I have higher expections than i did before the season started.

Smallwonder you are correct I did say that Pembroke would not be a push over my opinion was based on the Wilmington outcome. I give all the props to this bunch that's why I am looking forward to the next couple of games.

I had the same thoughts as you about Russ, however I am of of a different opinion concerning Dapo having anything to do with this. I think Dapo is still an unproven enitity and by the way he still hasn't had corrective surgery. He and I talked the other day and he mentioned something about an insurance thing because the injury happened overseas etc. Hopefully that can get worked out, have the surgery and begin the healing process. Now back to Russ, he had a heck of a game and great for him to get POTW honors. I don't get why more is not being said of him and a couple of others. Hopefully his play will only get better because he will need to kick it up a notch once he comes against true big men.

I am still a littel concerned with Stephon, I couldn't help but notice how much he favors that leg. I hope I will be proven wrong but I think he will be a defensive liability because he won't plant and turn on the left side because of his knee. Hopefully its only a mental issue and once he becomes more confident that will pass.

I didn't make it to the Pembroke game but I listened to it over the internet. Sounded great, especially on defense. In the post-game interview, Laing said he felt better about going into the Coastal game than he did "three hours ago" (before the Pembroke game). He sounded pleased.

Looking forward to going to the Coastal and UNCW games. Xavier beat Coastal by 33. UNCW beat Belmont by 5 and lost to UT by 12.
