Struggling with GC&SU
Well..... all ASUN Teams have blown out their exhibition opponents up til today... enter the Mercer Bears. I still have hope that it's only a mirage based on starting lineup/subs. I hate to say it, but I think it's just the way it is. Dolan needs to start and play 35 minutes in my mind though.

Starting lineup aside, the answer to being a good team is simple - free throws.

I really think Alacqua and Aaron should start as well. I didn't see the starting lineup until right now. I really think you need experience on the court to start the game. Is that why we fell behind so quickly tonight? It's so hard to tell without actually seeing the game.

Greetings Mercerfan'
This exhibition game was of interest to me because Shaun Keaton--a backup guard for the Bucs last year--transferred to Georgia College. I was just curious how he did. Great kid. Did you attend the game?

With regard to the game...I don't know how much stock I'd put into into exhibition games. I watched U.of Md. almost get beat by Calif.University (of Pa.) the other night. Coaches use these games to experiment.

Good luck this season. I plan to make the trek to Macon this year.

I was one of the few mercer students there(more on that in a second). this exhibition left me disappointed and gave me hope at the same time. i would agree about starting alacqua or aaron, but it was also the first time on the court for these new guys. the first time they were in they looked awful and nervous and tight. once they subbed back in they played much better. alacqua acually had a very off night. what surprised me the most was our inside game. our guys got dominated. pfhol and dolan combine for 1 point. so im frustrated b/c some things looked so bad, but the overall talent is so much better than we've had in years on the perimeter. they are a much more exciting bunch to watch.

florence had 25 points last night and at times he looked like the man, but he also played horribly. by the 2nd half i regretted every time he made a shot because he would come back with two awful ones. also everything seemed to be clear out and go one on one with him. hes a very talented player but its impossible to win like that on a consistent basis. he reminds me a little bit of the etsu complaints against tim smith. hell of a player, but does it sometimes cause more harm than good? will be interesting to watch.

last point was the mercer students. HORRIBLE. it was a home game for gcsu. credit them for bringing fans, especially ones all painted up. to see our own players get taunted in our house made me sad to be a mercer bear. i'm not sure i can express just how bad it was. i was mortified. and it pretty much tells me football will never happen at mercer. how can it if we have no school pride and we can't even support basketball.

well..u guys shouldnt be ashamed of losing an exhibition game. Glad to see my former school doing well though..but i mean..they arent a pushover..they did go to the sweet sixteen and they were VERY close to beating the d2 runnerup.

i wouldnt look 2 deep in it...last game for ksu against fort valley state..the score made it look like it was competitive..which it was..but that was because for the most part we only had 1-2 starters in a play.

And i'm also shocked that gcsu students came..i mean they arent good fans..trust me i went to all the games from 04-06..they suck.

I wasn't able to go to the game -- I'm not a student anymore and don't live in Macon. I will be traveling down to visit and see a few games this year though. That's too bad we didn't have many fans, but we're coming off a couple bad seasons, it's an exhibition game, and there's a cover charge to get in (still for a good cause, but trust me that will be enough to keep people out).

If we can get back to a winning form (exciting form) at some point, the fans will come (I hope)....

At least you can count on one more person being at some games (me!)
