I have always felt 11- WJHL- did a bit better in ETSU coverage.

Both Kenny Hawkins and Paul Johnson are ETSU grads- incidentily. Hawkins can be a bit more direct- though sometimes there isn't enough of a clean break between stories in his delivery.

Johnson has bigger market experience but his friendly mode seems a bit forced at times. Admittedly, on that station sometimes any anchor with some personality stands out like a sore thumb.

Any thoughts here?

We'll I am not in the Tri-Cities anymore so i cannot comment on who is better. But Kenny Hawkins is also from Oak Ridge. I don't know him personally, but do remember when we were in high school (he is a few yrs older than me) he always did HS school-sports related shows and some local cable sports shows at a young age. So he is doing what he has always wanted to do I presume.

Channel 11 is the only one worth watching, although I hate hearing Sara Diamond's mindless comments all the time.

Kasey Marler makes WJHL the best in the Tri-Cities. His three-year Media General contract runs up soon, or so I've heard. It's going to be a shame to lose him. He's good.

Well WJHL may normally be better but tonight's coverage on the UT/Fla game was just awful. While I don't agree with you on much Pitt, I do hate living in the tri-cities.

Oh my God was it. The pre-game coverage that WJHL showed made me want to throw up....it also made me feel embarassed to live in the tri-cities. It was total bush league and made East Tennessee look worse than what it already is.
