My boss is an ER physician that graduated from Duke Medical School. He is a big hoops fan and we play a lot of weekend, "old guy" basketball. Most of the guys that play with us have heard of ETSU, based on our tourney play in the 90's.

He went to the school's website one day and saw that stuff about us becoming the "best regional university in the country." He used to joke that ETSU was the "best regional university in the REGION." When local newspapers print articles that read like this one (and the previously one posted) it REALLY makes it hard for me to come up with a comeback to his "hillbilly" taunts.

WTF are you talking about Pitt? All you do is bend the facts or just outright make them up. When I post something to refute you, I post not only the facts but links to the source I got them from. See Pitt one thing I learned as a PI is you have to have evidence to backup your claims. My job was to gather the facts not makeup stuff. I guess a *cough* journalist isn't bound by those ethics. You post things on here as being factual and when you get caught in your lies you become shrill, protesting that the actual facts aren't as important as whatever point you were trying to make. Of course your other ploy when confronted with the truth is to find one small part of what was said, focus on it, totally distort the context in which it was posted and attack that. Its is called building a Straw Man and that is the only thing you any good at. For good measure you also find some way to attack the poster. Like me not working as a PI anymore. All four of those claims are incorrect- proving Rod DOES NOT check out the facts.

Let me talk about the PG claim he's making. I know where he's getting that, and it's from this editorial in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review dated July 31, 2005

The story got leaked to the Trib by the Republican Committee of Allegheny County. I heard not even a word from the PG about it.

Evidently, the higher up realized he was wrong.

So you know Rod- and I realize this is probably more than you can comprehend but I'll try anyway- I left the Post-Gazette for a higher paying position at the Intelligencer that allowed me some higher profile work- occassional Steelers articles- the top local beat (Nailers hockey)- that sort of stuff.

The sad fact is that the PG's labor situation is not good- the paper is up for sale- and everyone's job is precarious. The Post-Gazette disolved its Washington, D.C. bureau recently, and since I was neither in the union there or had significant longevity I decided to be a big fish in a smaller pond rather than part of a school that might soon be swallowed up.

That refutes Rod's claims once again and shows just what an incompetent he must have been as a dectective.

Common sense should tell you some board comment should not, ethically, remove anyone from a job or credentials. There is a little something called FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
