I'm a CMU fan, just curious as to your expectations for the football team this fall. Who is the likely QB & RB? Will the defense be improved? At CMU, most are expecting significant improvement this season, with the return of a strong running game, anticipated improvement in our defensive front seven, and probable imnprovement at QB. Thanks in advance for your comments.

Ok, this is going to be as broad as possible -- have to say again that I'm not a major football buff.
Its between Gibran Hamdan and Tommy Jones for QB -- many people around here give it to Tommy Jones. Like I said, notta clue from my part.
I think I can safely say this ... I don't expect anything great out of the season, to be truthful. With a new coach, people expect better, but it may take some time. While this year may not be the greatest season, I think you can expect an improved team in the years to come. JMO, of course
CMich, thanks for posting also. Come back anytime!

You're welcome, and thanks for the quick reply. Never too early to start thinking football (when the alternative is Tigers baseball...)

Indiana fullback won't be back for final season
Staff Reports
June 20, 2002
Jeremi Johnson, the starting fullback on the Indiana University football team the past two seasons, is leaving, though he hasn't told coaches where he might be headed.
IU spokesman Jeff Fanter said school officials learned from media reports that Johnson planned to leave the team. The school has not received an official transfer request.
Fanter said first-year coach Gerry DiNardo will decide whether to agree to a transfer once he hears from Johnson, who appeared to be a poor fit in the pass-oriented offense the new coaching staff plans to install.
"He (DiNardo) has a policy that a player has to be in good academic standing and he makes sure no tampering is going on," Fanter said.
Johnson rushed for 546 yards on 95 carries last season. But DiNardo had been critical of his physical conditioning and had talked of moving him to defensive line.
Johnson then missed most of spring practice with a hamstring injury and his scholarship was not renewed for next season, though he was invited to return for fall practice.
His transfer options may be limited. Johnson is a senior, and most Division I schools are hesitant to accept a transfer with only one season of eligibility remaining.
Johnson did not return calls to his Louisville, Ky., home on Wednesday.
