Meanwhile in Detroit
Although band fags from Iowa may not like it, in Detroit, Lions fans, with the help of a local sports radio station, have organized an "Angry Fan March" for the Lions game with the Cincinnati Bengals to show their displeasure with Lions' front office.

Furthermore, fans are being encouraged to wear orange to the game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Now- I have to tell you- nobody in Detroit is worrying about the Lions' players feelings here.

In fact, there's a columnist in the Detroit News who even wrote "Isn't it great there's so much passion about the Lions that people will go to these levels- even though the Lions haven't done much in recent years."

The question I have is if there is enough passion about ETSU to do this. Is there enough sense of community and pride in good ol' Johnson City, Tennessee that they are willing to take a stand against the people who have destroyed their window to the rest of the world- namely ETSU athletics?

Or are we too concerned about hurting someone's feelings that we'll just continue to let this whole thing go to rot?

Pitt,

Why the personal insult? You don't know me and I don't know you. What gives you the right to insult me. I disagreed with you on your suggestion of boycotting a basketball game. If you didn't read any of the other posts many were against that idea. Why can we not disagree in a civil way without the name calling? Are you capable of that? Thinking back to another board that you were banned from my guess is you cannot.

But the way, how did that work for the Detroit Lions? Big changes coming soon? I am sure if the coach is fired you will say, "see I told you so." What does that prove? Coaches are hired and fired all the time. If the fans did nothing the coach would probably be fired.

There are many ways to express your displeasure with a team. I don't feel boycotting the team is the right way to do it. I suppose we were raised in different worlds but the more I read of your posts the more I see that you have a lot of hostility.

As to your question in your post, NO, there is not enough community pride in JC or the tri-cities. If there were we would not be having this conversation right now because the area would be supporting a football team at State right now. Every game would be sold out and season tickets would be a hot commodity in the tri-cities. However, the community did not show its support when State had a team and why should they change now to support a movement to start one.

Oh, Iowa- you don't like it when you're personally insulted?

Now you know how I feel.

My God, I once asked a girl out for a date and we had people on the old board accuse me of everything but raping the poor woman.

In the words of Gene Simmons- "You created me on the day that you were born"

Which is why you're feeling so unholy.

So if you can't take the heat, start rooting for Iowa State. Besides, these days anyone who follows ETSU has to have some sort of masochistic tendencies, so quit complaining.

By the way- the Lions fired their coach around Thanksgiving.

Your lack of knowledge is appalling. No wonder they don't let people vote in primaries in Iowa- apparently only a chosen few are allowed to receive news.

Pitt,

I would like to ask a question of your first question - does anybody like to be personally insulted? I do not. I think there are other ways to disagree with someone without hulring insults at them.

Another question - did I ever make any kind of deragatory remark towards you, even on the other board? I do not think I have or did. Yet, you are taking it out on me and anyone else who does not bow down to your ideas and say that you are the "greatest-spokesman-for-ETSU-athletics-with-all-the-answers-to-every-ETSU-ill." Back off.

I do not feel unholy (please explain that one to me). I will continue to root for ETSU. I have gone to State games, literally, all my life. I have been through the good years, the bad years, and the very bad years and I will continue to support them in a positive way.

Do I like the way ETSU athletics is going right now? NO, but I want to find a positive solution to it instead of boycotting a basketball game.

I still cannot figure out the hositlity from you. Can you explain it? You voiced your opinion and I voiced mine and I get slammed for it. But then most of your posts are negative or abusive towards someone. Why? This is a simple bulletin board and I just want to be able to post opinions and have them talked about (even with opposing views), not degraded and abused. I have done nothing to you and will not. Is it possible for you to have a civil disagreement with someone?

I can take the heat, if it were justified. This is simply someone who insults others for no reason except to feel better about himself. That is sad. I feel sorry for you. You have my pity (no pun intended).

Fine. Then I will be much nicer. Let me start now.

You know, ETSU is really stinking out the joint but I think it's important now to stand behind the team and tell them we love them.

Sure, staying away in droves is the only tried and true method of forcing a losing team to reverse it's ways- but you know- it might hurt the players feelings.

I want to be like the Chicago Cubs. Everyone is happy when they go to Wrigley Field- win or lose.

And look- the players all feel it! Sure Ernie Banks and Ron Santo never played in a World Series- but who needs that when you can act like a Crazy Ambassador to people out of their mind on Old Style?

No, I will not be outraged or rude or show anyone with great clarity the error in their ways. I will have a blissful smile on my face and make nice.

;-) ;-) :rose: :iagree: :pooky: :raphael: :odie: :iagree:

Pitt,

I don't mind you voicing your opinion. What I don't like is the personal attacks on someone you don't even know. So I disageed with you, big deal. People disagee with me sometimes too but I don't use deragatory language. If you want to yell and scream and howl at the moon, that is fine with me. If you want to show your displeasure with the Bucs and the adminstration fine, boycott the games - don't go to anymore. Just don't bash someone with an opposing view. That is all I am saying. Try sarcasm again, it works for you.

I will agree, ETSU is stinking up the joint. THEY CANNOT PLAY DEFENSE. They don't know how to deal with Tim Smith each play, will he pass the ball or shoot. The team chemistry is not there right now; and hasn't been for several years. The players don't know what the others are doing. Most just stand around to see what Tim is going to do. Most of the time they are not ready for a pass because when he drives, he shoots. If he does happen to pass they are stunned and caught flat footed. I was shocked when most people were picking the Bucs in the top three of the league preseason. I kept thinking to myself, "This team only won 10 games last year and now they are going to contend for a title." I am still trying to figure out those picks.

Change is needed. It does need to start with Stanton and move right through the administration and down into the athletic department. I don't think they have done their jobs. The state of athletics at ETSU is in a sad place. Unfortunitally, changes will not come quick enough. I fear things will get worse before they get better, if that is possible.

Pitt, I will continue to banter back and forth with you. I have to laugh at some of your comments. Just check the hostility toward you fellow Buc fans at the door.
