Buccaneer baseball recruiting class ranked highly
Skole
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 28, 2005) – ETSU head baseball coach Tony Skole announced on Wednesday that Collegiate Baseball Newspaper has ranked the Buccaneers’ incoming recruiting class in its Top 75.
The Bucs, ranked No. 74, were rated higher than any other Atlantic Sun Conference school with the exception of Stetson, which rated 69th. In all, the class is made up of 13 players, which includes standouts such as pitchers Ryan Howe and Tony Lombardi, outfielders Jacob Fabry and C.J. Lee, catcher Justin Aughey, and second baseman Michael Courtney.
“This is a great honor for State Baseball and a great testament to our coaching staff and players,

Its amazing year after year how much big-time talent Pete Dunn gets at Stetson despite the fact that his players seem to passionately hate his guts.

Yes EXACTLY! I've talked to so many players who have said they can't stand him. What's up with that? He must be doing something right!

Tony had better watch out. If he continues to improve the baseball team it might just be on the chopping block. I mean is the baseball team getting to be too much of a drain on the athletic budget? Be careful Tony you don't want to have too much success.

CronbachAlpha,
I was talking to a girlfriend of a Stetson player a couple of years ago at a game in Jacksonville and she said that she wanted to write a book about what a monster Pete Dunn was and how if her boyfriend had to do it over again, he would have never gone to Stetson if he would have known.
One funny story she told me was that he won the ASUN pitcher of the week during that year and the coach didnt even let him know. He found out about it a couple of weeks later while scanning the conference website.
But every year they seem to have 2 or 3 new freshmen that can just crush the ball. He hasnt had too much luck with pitching since DiNardo left though.
What a great place to watch a ballgame though....

Well that's all very interesting. The question now becomes, how does he recruit such great talent and why do these players come to Stetson (besides the great education and facilities)? And also, if the man creates such a disharmonious culture, how do they continue to win?
I can't figure this one out.
