House released from LOI

Quote:DeKALB - Northern Illinois men's basketball coach Ricardo Patton will have another scholarship to work with during the late signing period.

Rock Falls standout Zach House was released from his Letter of Intent, giving the new Huskie basketball coach three scholarships to sign incoming freshman or junior college players for the upcoming 2007-08 season.

House was the lone recruit former coach Rob Judson signed to a Letter of Intent in November. House would have given height in the post, as the Rock Falls senior boasts a 7-foot frame. The Huskies lack height in the post with the loss of James Hughes, who was second on the team in scoring with 12.1 points per game. Hughes, an academic All-Mid-American Conference selection, led the team in rebounding with 6.1 boards a game.

House averaged more than 16 points, 10 rebounds and nearly six blocks a contest for Rock Falls this season. He also set a school record for blocks and field-goal percentage (65 percent) to lead the Rockets to a 27-4 record.

Rumored to take his scholarship is Prop 48 athlete Darion Anderson, who sat out last season for the Huskies after committing to the program from Carver. Anderson is a 6-foot-2 guard.

The release of House completed a whirlwind two-month span for Patton, who replaced Judson on March 19. Point guard Quintan Limpkins and forward Mike Lochner have transfered out of the program, opening up two more scholarships for the Huskies.
