Ball State signs basketball deal with Purdue...
Two games at Mackey Arena, one at Worthen Arena...

This year will be the first meeting between the Cards and Boilers since BSU thrashed Purdue by 20 points at Conseco Fieldhouse in 1999 (the first college game ever played in that arena, btw).

Two for ones aren't the best thing anymore for the MAC.
Due to RPI forces, bigger schools are being forced to go for 1 and 1's now and they are hating it (costing them more $$ too). That's if they want to play post season these days now.

Well, Indiana gave us a 1-1-1 deal in basketball (Indy-Muncie-Bloomington), but that came about more because the Hoosiers needed an opponent for their annual game at Conseco Fieldhouse. I expect the next round of that series will be two at Assembly Hall and one game at Worthen (although the game at Conseco was a lot of fun for both schools).

Purdue wouldn't even schedule us *at all* after we thumped them in our last meeting, so a 2-for-1 is probably worth it to get them back on the schedule.

This also sets us up so we have at least one "marquee" non-conference game at home the next two seasons (Georgetown and our annual rivalry game with Butler are in Muncie next year, Purdue comes to town the next).

Purdue? Ball State went out and scheduled Purdue? Was Marshall unavailable for the basketball season? ;-)

(and to clarify, this is not a knock on BSU, but praise. Even though this is basketball, THIS is the kind of scheduling MAC schools need to pursue across the board -- getting major schools into their stadia and arenas.)
