Altman back to Creighton
So after one day on the job at Arkansas, Dana Altman has decided to return to Creighton. This of course opens the job at Arkansas back up...

Wasn't it Vince Chickerella who changed his mind about taking the Kent job once, while driving to Kent to accept it?

Yeah, it was Chickerella (who flip-flopped twice!):

Coaches Who've Had a Change of Heart

April 16, 2002

By Mike Douchant

Dan Dakich, returning to Bowling Green after West Virginia didn't suit him, isn't the first coach to discover that a new job doesn't always assure greener pastures. Following is an alphabetical list of coaches who reneged on deals for a variety of reasons (the name of the coach who subsequently was hired by the university is in parentheses):

Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Ken Anderson (Wisconsin in 1982/Steve Yoder)
Oakland Oaks (ABA) guard Larry Brown (Davidson in 1969/Terry Holland)
Capital's Vince Chickerella (Cincinnati in 1972/Gale Catlett)
Capital's Vince Chickerella (Kent State in 1978/Ed Douma)
Georgia Tech's Bobby Cremins (South Carolina in 1993/Eddie Fogler)
Bowling Green's Dan Dakich (West Virginia in 2002/To be determined)
North Carolina assistant Bill Guthridge (Penn State in 1978/Dick Harter)
Texas-El Paso's Don Haskins (Detroit in 1969/Jim Harding)
Kansas State's Jack Hartman (Oklahoma State in 1977/Jim Killingsworth)
Appalachian State's Buzz Peterson (Southwest Missouri State in 1999/Barry Hinson)
Chicago Bulls scout Jerry Sloan (Evansville in 1977/Bobby Watson)

Coach Altman said he will finish his career with Creighton... Wow that will be nice for their fans, not having to play this guessing game after every season.

Never know about fans. If Dana has a few losing seasons at Creighton, the "time for a change" rumblings will start. Going home isn't always the best thing to do, as Dan Dakitch would tell you.

Think about ths board. After a few OOC loses, the grumblings about J.C.'s coaching ability start. After another 20 win year, the grumblings about him leaving start. It's our regular fall/spring ritual.
