BREAKING NEWS!!!!!! HOOOOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Utes to hire Boylen for hoops job
By Michael C. Lewis

Article Last Updated: 03/26/2007 10:55:16 AM MDT

Posted: 10:54 AM- Michigan State's Jim Boylen will be named the next head coach of the University of Utah men's basketball team, sources have confirmed to The Salt Lake Tribune.
It's unclear when an announcement will come, but sources said an introductory press conference is expected Tuesday or Wednesday.
The 41-year-old Boylen is in his second year as an assistant to head coach Tom Izzo at Michigan State. Well-regarded as an astute strategic coach who emphasizes defense, he worked for 13 seasons as an assistant coach in the NBA, primarily with the Houston Rockets.
Boylen could not be reached for comment Monday.
Hiring Boylen will conclude a nearly 3 1/2-week search for a replacement for Ray Giacoletti, who was forced to resign after an 11-19 season - the worst in 23 years.
Boylen had been a top target of athletic director Chris Hill since Hill could not lure Larry Krystkowiak away from the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks.

I would now guess that S. Fla. will want to talk with JC. They also could not get their 1st choice. JC may get a new job but it looks as if he is no ones first choice at this time. S. Fla is a terrible job even though it is in the Big East.

GOOD NEWS FOR US 02-13-banana

I think with the players we have coming in, and the returnees, it will take something special and big time for JC to leave

From a Utah newspaper prior to the apparent selection of Jim Boylen as Utah coach:

The biggest negative for many fans is Boylen's lack of head coaching experience. But would you rather have a guy who was tutored by the likes of Rudy Tomjanovich and Tom Izzo for more than a decade or someone who was fairly successful as a head coach at a smaller program with little experience in big-time basketball? Plus, every successful coach has moved from assistant to head coach at some point in his career.

That says it all about the obstacles facing a Jim Christian type coach.

Funny those same morons weren't saying that when they took Rick Majerus years ago or even Urban Myer more recently, and we all saw how they worked out.

I think they suffer from general altitude sickness, in every sense of the illness.
