Management baby!

Forgive my glee. Good day yesterday. My boss won approval for a big program. BG and ASU won...

Congrats to BG on a great win!! Go beat another BCS school! chairshot

Thumbs down to ESPN for not showing the score during the Notre Dumb/N. Carolina game. I was stuck watching that in Chi-town. mafia

I had to laugh last night when the post-game analysis on ESPN concentrated on the fact that this is the first time ever that the top 4 seeds in every region did not win. That is incredible. However, if the selection committee had done their job, BG would have been a top 4 seed, certainly no worse than a 5. They were in the top 20 nearly all year. The women's selection committees are no better than the men's. Congratulations, BG. Maybe the selection committees of the future will give a little more respect to the MAC, thanks to your fine showing this year.

I believe he is saying that BG is the first womens team to go to the sweet 16.

Do you mean that it was the first time that the top four seeds failed to reach the Sweet 16 in even one region?

Thanks, hopefully they don't stop there. It would be great to see them keep on rolling.

That's correct, Spicer. And now there are two, BG and Mississippi, a 7 seed who also broke through last night by knocking off Maryland. That shows how top heavy women's basketball has been all these years. Incredible, isn't it?

You're right about the seeds, but ultimately, you have to win.

BG finally did that, and now will probably get some respect in future years, if they have similar seasons.

Is it unfair about the seeds? Yeah to some extent. But, last year BG lost to UCLA, who promptly lost to Purdue. Hard to argue that they should have been seeded higher.

This year they won. The seed doesn't matter too much, they still would have had to beat someone decent to advance.

The Selection Committee gave BG respect when it awarded the ladies a 7 seed. It meant that we were expected to win our first game. I have no problem with the seeding and I know the coaching staff had no problem with that seeding either. We won our first game. We won our second game. Future selection committees will have to determine if we are worthy of a high seeding. These two victories should help us int he future.

Great job by the ladies and another great job by the Falcon fans that flocked to East Lansing!!!!

I think that this is the first year that none of the four regions had the all top 4 seeds advance, not "the first time ever that the top 4 seeds in every region did not win." Many teams seeded 5-plus have made the Sweet 16 over the year's in women's basketball. It's very top-heavy, but it's not that top heavy.
(BTW, wasn't that Peter Aliss's comment about the problem with women golfers? Too top heavy?)

Actually, we got a pretty nice road to the sweet 16. We played 2.5 hours away from home against a pair of teams we matched up with pretty well.

It was like getting two home games...

MAC is a better womens league right now that football or basketball. The MAC having BGSU in the sweet sixteen and Ball State in the NIT shows that the womens are making progress while the men's team have several overpaid coaches that schedule cupcake schedules to save trying to save their hides first and advance the program and MAC second.
