I think the writer over reacted a little bit based on one game. We've never drawn well vs. UB. The Miami game which is traditionally a draw was played in a blizzard. The BG rivalry is down b/c they suck.
I suspect the Akron suburbanites don't have any real set loyalities, so if they want to take the kids out to see some hoops, they're going to go to whoever is getting the bigger hype. The marketing dept needs to focus on the SE Cleveland burbs. I think the alumni will gradual start to come out more as there more and more gradutates who went to KSU when the program started to be good.

my dad's rebuttal:
Hey....Calling a loyal KSU fan (who happens to be your Dad) "Crazy" on a KSU web site? Whoa....!
If you worked till 7-8pm every night and if the temp was -6F with wind chill -24F, you might opt to watch games on TV also!
The BIG problem is that over 3/4 of the fans who DO show up are older loyal fans like me! The REAL PROBLEM is the always apathetic student body who hardly ever (except Nat'l or Regional TV games when they can get their stupid faces and signs displayed) show up even though the live a few thousand steps away in their dorms! The place should be packed with students alone! Reference Ohio State students and Indiana Students....... and USC, UCLA & Cal State Northridge!
