schedule
I was reading the article on the main MAC board about a bunch of WAC schools with openings. Why do we not contact these schools ala Nevada who we have aconnection with theri AD and get something worked out. Let the MAC do their thing and we can do ours. I have not seen any scheduling favors done for us.

How do you know we haven't?

The entire MAC schedule is a huge clusterphuck right now.

We'll find out more in the coming weeks.

Someone wrote something like this before, but I would rather see a home-home against a team like Nevada, Hawaii, New Mexico or Fresno State. These can all shape into good games and be big wins. Rather then schedule a big BCS school and play only at their place. In which case the huskies will most likely come out on the losing end.
At least schedule some big schools that will come to Brigham field for once.

I also believe a MAC/WAC home and home would be a very exiting matchup. I know that there would be some addional travel expense but the OOC home schedule would take a giant step up in quality.

There are some schools that are very upset with the leadership and direction of the MAC right now, and a couple that have been upset with it for a couple of years.

I am not trying to bash the MAC. I just think this whole scheduling fiasco was and is completely avoidable in the future. Can someone tell me is it really that hard to come up with the conference schedule? Why not come up with some guidelines for the teams when it comes to scheduling OOC games or something.

The hardest thing about this year's schedule is having 13 teams. That is a nightmare. We've also had problems in the past because of bending over backwards to ESPN and because of the fact that some of the schools in the MAC have idiots for athletic directors and they seriously cannot schedule or manage a DI-A athletic program. It's the same kind of crap year in and year out in the MAC. It will never change unless some serious changes are made from top to bottom in the MAC. I've supported the MAC as long as I can. I am tired of feeling stupid because of the MAC's bush-league antics.

And the crap with screwing Boise State and Idaho may hurt Toledo's future OOC games with Fresno State and Boise State because the WAC doesn't want to do business anymore with the bush-league antics of the MAC.

I still say for us it will be a home and home with C-usa or sun belt. Road 07, home 08. I have a good feeling.

Boise State has been getting screwed by BG and the MAC. They were supposed to play at BG last year. The MAC office (they are handling BG's OOC scheduling believe it or not) asked Boise State to push the game back to this year. As part of doing so, the MAC agreed to have another MAC school come to Boise State this year as well.....that would give BSU 2 OOC games against MAC Schools for 2007.

Now the MAC is asking to push the BG game back again, and they are telling Boise State they don't know if there is a team available for that promised home game and who it would be if it happens. So Boise State is now most likely missing 2 OOC games. Idaho was supposed to play a MAC school in 2007 also, I think EMU or someone like that. They are being told that game is being dropped. So now Idaho has to find a replacement. The WAC wants to release their schedules, but can't until the MAC finishes their schedules up and Boise State and Idaho figure out what to do. The WAC office is upset. Boise State is very upset and they are supposed to play home and home deals with Miami and Toledo in the next few years. Nevada had been in talks with a couple of MAC schools about home and home deals, and now they are backing away because of the screw job the MAC is doing to Boise State and Idaho.

IMO, the MAC is burning bridges and as a "smaller" conference we can't afford to do that because our schools don't have the kind of appeal BCS schools have so once those bridges are burned they are not gonna want to play any MAC schools anymore. There just wouldn't be any good reason for them to mess around with our pathetic issues we seem to cause all the time.
