MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee will host South Florida on November 12 in the first round of the Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament.
The Lady Raider's side of the bracket includes Illinois State, Notre Dame, Western Illinois, Nebraska, Davidson and Duke. Should Middle Tennessee advance to the second round the team will either play Davidson or Duke.
"The opportunity to play in the Preseason WNIT is a tremendous honor," said head coach Stephany Smith. "To be chosen to host a first round game is a testament to what the team accomplished last season."
The event features nine teams that played in the postseason for 2003-04: Duke, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Arizona, Middle Tennessee, Saint Joseph's, South Florida, Rice and Nebraska. The tournament opens November 12, with second-round games on November 14, semi-finals on November 17 and the championship on November 20 or 21.
Middle Tennessee has participated in two Postseason WNIT Tournaments but this will be the first time the school has been selected to play in the Preseason WNIT.
