Interesting
What it shows is that promotions, 'right pricing', free parking, etc. etc. will not save a mediocre product (most haven't noticed that EMU is playing better).

Maybe EMU should price their tickets based on the previous year's win total.

5 wins = 5 bucks per tix.

10 wins = 10 bucks.

15 wins = 15 bucks.

20 wins = 20 bucks.

My point is that folks would pay 20 bucks / tix to see a Big Dance 20-win team, but most wouldn't even pay 5 bucks to see a 5 - 22 team.

I'm sure there are thousands of alums in the Detroit area who would spend a thousand bucks to follow EMU to a NCAA tourney game yet wouldn't spend 10 bucks to watch a bad team.

Price is not the elascity issue like in gasoline.

Just present a 25 dollar receipt from the nearby Walgreens (drug store).

Admits one. ;-)

Tough to draw fans after a 1-win season.

Detroit/Ann Arbor is an area saturated with sports and entertainment options. EMU Athletics is hardly on the map. For EMU to boost attendance signifigantly they'll have to sustain a winning team for more than a year. Having a star player like Boykins wouldn't hurt either. There's got to be a buzz around the area to get people to come to games.

Absolutely Agree Wooden Nickle!!
EMU has to run faster, work harder, climb tougher hills, etc. etc. to suceed in the saturated world of Southeast MI sports.

Unless the PROGRAM is up (which means several years running) then there isn't much hope.

BTW, we blew the big chance with Boykins. We had him for TWO years after he and his teammates beat Duke.

We got very little to show for their efforts (other then the Convo).

Isn't it a shame that EMU didn't sell 1,000 season tixs for the '96/'97 season?

I might be wrong but I think the Tigers sucked a lot of oxygen out of SE Michigan sports last October.
