Who plays in 2007???
Perhaps a better question would be who doesn't show up in 2007?

I'll predict that Priest and Fox see the field immediatly. Hopefully all the linemen can redshirt.

I'd agree with Priest. I like RBs who like to dish it out. Actually I think Gotham may start on the DL. Clint Allen if he is eligible might make an impact on the DB. He's got the tools and speed to do so.

I might add Jayson Jones out of Florida to this mix. He might give Priest a run for his money. At the Gainesville Florida Nike Camp in May 2006 he ran a 4.43 40, benched 285 and did a squat lift of 500 pounds.

Now that I`m done rattling the cages at that other forum!.......Guys I think will see playing time this year..Buche (if he gains weight and muscle), Davis-Budanauro-OL, Cardwell-DB, Gotham-DL, Shrieves-DL, Youssif-TE, Fox-WR, Hunter-WR, Clay-RB, Jones-RB, Priest-RB, and English-S....Cowboy, Im curious why you think Gotham might start?..D-Line will most likely be Jones and Hunt at tackles, and Young and Riley at ends...thats a tough position to play at for a frshman as they are often overmatched and not strong enough...though I agree he will see alot of playing time...Jones has been begging the coaches to move him to DE for 2 yrs now, and they arent gonna do it...and quite frankly he may not be fast enough unless he lost weight...im one who also thought he should be moved there............

Why Gotham starting on the DL? Its a fair question. If Johnson had not moved because Thomas can't get his act together I would expect to see a DL of Hunt,Jones, Johnson and Young with maybe Riley in there somewhere. Young and Riley are very quick and I thought Young really was a surprise last year but the problem is their size. I didn't see alot of depth last year on the DL because guys like Radney and Embedoli were redshirted and guys like Krevis quit. Most of the guys slated for the DL are on the small size and really could use a redshirt year. Gotham has the speed to be a very fast OL but also a decent DL. He may not start right away but my guess by the end of the year he might. Just speculation on my part.

Which brings to this, I don't have any connections to the EMU program or players or any MI high schools. A few years back I noticed after many posts from Rock that really no one was tracking EMU football recruiting so I thought I'd give it a try. Its really a hobby and something I do for fun. I'm no recruiting guru. I post stories here or observations that I think EMU fans will enjoy. I'm not always right nor do I say I am and I'm certainly not the expert or alpha or omega of football knowledge. All I've learned about recruiting I've learned by studying it. Boards like this are for fun and talking about EMU sports which is why I left M-Live, it wasn't fun anymore.

WELL SAID - EAGLE WARRIOR AND COWBOY
Cowboy - can you elaborate a little on the RB's and WR's coming in? I'm in favor of a gamebreaker type of player and a I think some of the new RB's may be abeit smallish.

Wonder what ever happened to Welch?

I like the Henry Ford kid - Genyck has stated that he is fun to watch. Both Jones 7.78 YPC and The Henry Ford Kid 10,2 ypc appear to be explosive, lets hope so!

What happened to Welch? What happened to Wilson? Here's what I think, the early verbals were great and they were both quality kids. As time went on in the process, the staff found out there were kids out there who in the staff's mind better. So the offers were pulled. It happens and it cuts both ways. Mind you in previous recruiting classes it appeared we were often wondering at the last minute who EMU would sign. This year's recruiting did seem more organized with more early verbals than I can ever recall. Geez we had McMahon's I think in early summer and it just got better from there.

Rock, it appears the staff is very high on Fox and he being athletic. I'm not as certain about Hunter and Brown-they are projects. I would also expect some of the DB's might be switched over to WR either this fall or in the future. If Clay can handle Div I conditioning drills and he shows he's got the hands besides taking handoffs-well think of a guy with that speed at WR. I'm not 100% sold on Clay its not his athletic talent we will either bunt with him or hit a home run. He may need a redshirt year just to adjust to the college game. I'm much more sold on Priest a year older than most frosh and while small he likes to punish the defense. Lets not forget his teamates at RB weren't as productive but got scholies at Clemson and Kentucky. Jayson Jones-there are bogus numbers but no doubt he is big, strong and fast. But lets not forget LJ Robertson or Clint Allen if he plays RB. Allen at 6'1, 195 and Robertson at 6'1, 210 have the size I think you're interested in seeing. Robertson had Big Ten offers out of high school.

Lots of options at RB and WR, it will be fun to see who emerges.

Oops Goodrum-Genyk appears to be very high on him as well. If he indeed has 4.4 speed he may like White-a more of swing guy out of the backfield. Imagine play calling with screens which seldom happens.

priest is explosive and very quick and could contribute right away and if allen is eligible he could be inserted anywhere on the field but as for robertson he may never see a down of collegiate football

Re Robertson can you enlighten us to why he may never play a down of college football? Thanks.

I`m hearing the same about Robertson, cowboy. I understand he`s not a hard worker, and has an attitude. He`s way, way down on the depth chart. I think he, along with Franklin thought they were gonna step right in and be a superstar, when the fact is, the other RB`s worked harder and are better....I hope that helped a little....

Thanks to both Eagles for answering my questions. I thought maybe he had gotten hurt or left the team.
