I have been saying that they are a worse team than last year. They have even played worse than I thought. 10-17 was my prediction. 6-21 is my new prediction. If Judson is not canned after this horrible season, I will be calling for Phillip's head. The bigger problem is this years team might be better than next years team.

And here I thought I would be the only one on here to remember the infamous Emory Luck era (thankfully, it didn't last long). Boy, what a shame that Jorgy didn't stay around.
I take it that we didn't have much "Luck" that year? Or was it too much "Luck". ;-)

The most important stats pointing out how horrible this team is:
Turnover % of 27.5 (331st in the nation which is 6th from last)
Turnover percentage is a pace-independent measure of ball security.
TO% = TO / Possessions
Defensively, we are 311th in the nation with an 18.5 turnover %. So we hardly force any turnovers at all.
Opponent Steal % of 15.3 (336th in the nation which is dead last)
Steal Percentage (%Stls): This is the percentage of possessions that the team records a steal while they are on the court. It is computed by Steals/ Possessions
The stats may be a little complex, but are the best indication that we are horrible. Both stats show that we are the easiest team to steal from in the entire country.

We are 171st in the nation in 3-Point FG% shooting 34.6%
Where are you getting that we are ranked 33rd???
The best thing we are good at is that we are ranked 69th in the nation in 2-Point FG% shooting 51.8%

Jud is responsible for recruiting the players so it all comes back to him.

You think this is bad.Next year will be horrible without McKinney or Hughes even with their troubles. All you have coming in is Gators, House another guard who is a Prop 48 this year and the other Juco in Nichols. No immediate help. Maybe no long term help there either.
And here's the real scary part. If Jud is around next season, he has four Seniors whose spots he will be recruiting kids to fill. Simply put, any new coach would immediqtely be a year or two behind having to use such a key class that he didn't pick for four years. His seniors four years hence would still be Judson's signees. That's no receipe for success.
Jud pretty much needs to go this year or this program is dead in the water for years to come.
Phillips has to find a way to buy him out and probably the whole staff also.

Why, what has he done? He's not a good recruiter and being a former point guard, he's not showing the team how to take care of the ball.

Tracy Dildy is an assistant coach at Alabama Birmingham. He is the one that NIU should look at as the new coach. He is a CPS player and has great ties. Maybe, after the big guys take their fill, NIU could get the next best 2 or 3 a year.

100%.
He recruited them all. He's got a brand new facility that the envy of all of our other coaches, including Novak.
If you buy out his last year, so be it. With our sales so low this year, we'll make up some of the buyout next year. You find the money somewhere and let him go.

Agreed,
I think if you pay $ and bring in a veteran name for a coach, that should increase ticket sales enough to offset the raise needed to bring in such talent. Remember, you play at least 10-12 home games. You may even generate a little excitement and up donations toward the basketball program.

There is always risks to recruiting the Chicago Public League. I think you really need to do your homework and make sure you bring in players that want to go to school. Look at UIC, they are right in the heart of the CPL and don't really recruit within the city.
One problem is that there are so many D1 basketball teams, it's more difficult to recruit these players. If you look at Rockford, kids would want to go to Wisc. If you look at Peoria, they want to go to Bradley or ISU. IF you look at Chicago, they want th Big 10, Notre Dame, SIU, Bradley, ISU, before they even think of coming here. We as fans must come to terms with the fact that, NIU is a last resort for most kids who want and can play D1. Our football program was in the same shape, but recovered, and I believe our basketball program can too, but with the right coach.

Things I've heard about Dildy, I don't want him anywhere near DeKalb. His coaching has a lot to be desired. He's assistant only for his ability to recruit, and that has always been in the gray area.

He would not take the job.
Also, I think if we were to put together a team of football players, they could be the basketball team. We have a lot of talented 2 sport stars. The football team would win.

I agree Collins would not take the job. He will leave Duke for a much more prominent job.
