niuhuskie84 Wrote:pDoGG Wrote:LET ME STATE THIS - American Bulldogs ARE NOT for the first-time owner. They are very strong-muscled, fast, intelligent, and possibly aggressive breeds (depends on training). We are expereinced dog owners and still have some difficulties with this breed - nothing "wrong" - but the dog is always in need of something to do. Since they are very intelligent, if you don't give them stimulation (in things to do, toys to play with, people to be around), they can get extremely destructive. They are also impossible to catch as they're really fast when running around. However, as far as a companion, they are FANTASTIC! Just one other thing - you will get the pitbull mentality, which in some places is a very negative, stereotypical treatment. Luckily we live over the OH/MI line in MI, as the county in OH south of us bans some ownership of these dogs.
I love this breed, but you have to have experience and know a lot more about the situations around you then ever before.
sounds a lot like a border collie.
i got this book for christmas, any dog lover should read it
They are very close. Border collies are probably even more annoying because they have more natural herding insticts, so they will constant try to round up things - children are one example!
There are a handful of breeds (other than fast and intelligent ones) that are discouraged from first time owners too. I've been to a lot of dog shows, so I've come to learn most of the AKC breeds...and there are some that are a royal pain to own - you just really, really have to be into the overhead to be interested. Sometimes the most popular breeds are misleading too.
Too bad they don't have rating systems and guidebooks that classify women. I think too many of us didn't have any warnings to heed.

Have to say, I'm disappointed. I thought the message topic was the opening line to a great joke.
Unlike other dogs, who bark when a stranger enters their turf, a French bulldog will roll over and surrender.
Hench the word "French" (although "Italian" bulldog would fit as well).....
Well, he can always go for the arrogant American dog(whatever that dog may be).
That's any dog that salivates over the opportunity to bite the asses of the bleeding heart pacifists protesting on the corner of First & Lincoln Hwy. ;-)
Is it bad that I sometimes want to run those fuxxors over?
Hate free speech? You definately make a good sheep. Baah.
No I love free speech, I also love the freedom to run down a bunch of liberal ******* for saying something I disagree with. Sure I may end up in jail but CHoran and Kedz would bail me out.
So you think Iraq attacked us on 9/11? You think Iraq still had WMD's? You still think the war is going swimmingly? You still think protesting the war makes one a traitor? You think that protesting the war to bring our troops home safely is "against our troops"? You still think that Bush is a great President?
No they did not attack us on 9/11, according to more than one president, they did have WMD's, I don't think the war is going stellar, I never said it makes them a traiter, it just makes me want to run them down in the streets where they march, no Bush is an awful president. He did nothing that I wanted him to, nothing that I thought he would do after I voted for him. This has nothing to do with Bush or being a "neocon" or thinking that Iraq had anything to do with 9/11, it has to do with the fact that I am sick of them.

Did they have WMD's when we attacked them the SECOND time we attacked them? Were they "harboring" terrorists? That is the reason we went in(according to them). The second one you can make a case for-if you count the Palestinians. But is that OUR problem or should a certain other country taken care of THEIR problem? BTW, you call the protestors"*******" yet I don't see you signing up to join the military. Does that make you a "*****"? Was Hussein a bad guy? Yes. Should he have been taken out of power? Yes. Did we go about it the right way by going it alone? No. Instead of lying/misrepresenting the reason we went in, it cost us support from around the world. Tell the world it was because of the genocide, we have a major portion of the world on our side and it would be MUCH easier to control the situation. But this has nothing to with french bulldogs. ;-)

I can't join the military. I have a heart condition. I almost joined the Air Force till I found out that it was recurring and didn't go away like we had thought.

Sorry Bart. I was just responding to the idiocy of the French comments with a comment of my own. Then they jumped on that and this thread got out of hand. I had to respond to those.
