Just an FYI for anyone interested. WKU is suing Italian television conglomerate Mediaset for $250 million in a copyright infringement case involving the use of a mascot that appears to be a nearly exact likeness to WKU's Big Red. Il Gabbibo (the Italian mascot) is a national celebrity in Italy with his own television show and a lot of other associations. Mediaset is controlled by Italy's billionaire prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi. If you'd like to read the complete story and check out photo's of the two, Big Red and Il Gabbibo, check them out here: http://www.nytimes.com/2004/02/27/busine...ner=GOOGLE

That is what I was thinking. Of course it is the company that holds our trademark that is sueing, so we'd only see a portion of that, but still a good chunk. Interestingly, the developer of this italian version of Big Red has adimited to getting it from WKU. It is just a matter how much.

It is amazing that Big Red is so popular over there. This tv show put out a #1 selling album and this show has been on for over 10 years. It's like Barney almost.

Maybe we need to hire some of the marketing guys over there to come here and market Big Red.
