I think an occasional game like that might be a good thing.

The Boston Celtics play in Providence occasionally.

Navy plays big games (ND) in Ravens and Redskins stadiums.

BG and UT might consider trying a doubleheader there. Even if the attendance isn't more than twice what they could draw separately, the event might create a little buzz around the rest of their home schedules.

Might be interesting to schedule Dayton and Wright St, or Cincy and Xavier in such an event.

Detroit-Mercy and Oakland would work, too. Both are decent non-conference mid-majors and close enough to Toledo that a few of their fans might make the drive.

Maybe the Blade would want to sponsor a Holiday BB Tourney like they use to with BGSU/UT.

No thanks, we're Bowling Green State University, not Toledo.

You're right. You play in a high school basketball arena and a high school football stadium. You surely are not Toledo.

I believe that writer is a jounnalism prof at Central Michigan and lives in Bowling Green. There are a number of people that think he has a screw loose on many ideas he has had in the past! 01-wingedeagle

This is an intriguing idea - especially for a hockey tournament.

I must ponder further. Think if you could have a CCHA v. WCHA weekend tourny. BG and U of M against two teams from the WCHA.

*shudder*

You're getting quite a few bodies to the downtown area.

Especially if you schedule these types of events during the break, when not many BG students are around anyway. Who loses out?

BG needs to start being innovative, in order to recruit better. This is straightforward common sense, not exactly "New Coke".

Seriously, I bet a fair number of people from the Metro Toledo area would be interested in a BG hockey game downtown Toledo. I'm not a Toledo native, but there's not too much about the Toledo Storm that interests me. A tourney with BG as the host with a couple other 'name schools ' such as Michigan as a particpating team, might do better than expected.
