Slanton vs Rice: can a poor performance: help GW?
Two of GW's top RB contenders are playing tonight.
If Slanton has a great game he will pass GW for the top RB slot in the nation. Alternatively a great performance from Ray Rice might catapult him in the Heisman race.
Surely a poor performance from both RB's especially Slanton, can only help GW.
A Rutgers win and Slanton going under 100 yards must help GW!

I don't think Wolfe has hope to even be invited to NY, all he really has is the hope to be the leading rusher.

Surely a second poor performance from Slanton has to help GW.
Slanton was held < 50 yards last week and is 66 yards for 9 rushes so far at half time.

It's Slaton. Steve Slaton.

One N, not two.

Thanks.

Slaton is only 279 yards - 66 = 213 yards behind GW.
Rice is 405 - 39 = 366 yards behind GW.

We got an atlarge bid possibly largly because of the National attention surrounding GW.
If neither RB can make a significant dent into GW's lead then arguably GW can be claimed as the top RB in the Nation from a statistics point of view.

Um...we got an at large bid because we're the only team eligible at 7-5

True. We HAD to be chosen, period.

Sadly, Garrett will not be invited to New York next week.

NIU and Wolfe are squarely responsible for the non appearance in NYC regardless of what all others did or did not do on the field recently .

Well, after that game, Wolfe will finish the season as the D1-A rushing champion!

Yeah I guess we should blame GW for having a pulled hamstring and a shoulder injury.

Not necessarily. Bowl game stats now count in your totals.

Yes, but Steve Slaton would still have to get 167 yds to pass Garrett Wolfe right now. Wolfe doesn't even have to play against TCU and he still would probably win it. Steve Slaton has only gotten 167 or more yards four times this season.

I agree, but the original post made a definitive statement. Certainly, it is highly unlikely that Slaton could catch GW. I just wanted to make it clear that it is NOT yet over.

Should GW be held to 30-40 yards, or (heaven forbid) get injured early in the game, his number would NOT be unreachable.
