As stated in another thread the web site has failed to tell us the basketball signees in a timely fashion. The posting put up today is a great example of how pollyanish the site has become. The volleyball coach resigned today. This was about 3-5 years overdue. Instead of just announcing the fact they proceeded to list her accomplishments. They were:

1. Most wins in Kent history (a whopping 139-156 record)
2. Eight of 10 MAC tournament appearences including this year (all 12 teams made it this year and they lost in the first round, you don't need a coach for this)
3. Most wins this year since 2002 (a 13-16 record)
4. 22 semesters of a 3.00GPA or better (I'll give her that one although I wonder if a coach really has a lot of influence in that one especially in a low profile sport such as volleyball, one has to believe most of those athletes actually go to college for an education).

This reminds me of when they honored a 6-5 football team at the half time of a basketball game. Made the Cleveland parade for a world series loser almost justified. When is the world going to start treating 18-22 year old college students as if they were adults. The people that don't go to college certainly are treated that way in the workplace. Our volleyball and football teams over the past years have been bad. Just say it and try and fix the problem. They know they are bad so let's get the right coaches and correct the problems. It's not a bad thing to point out performance is not up to expectations. If you don't say it, it won't get better.

Could they not be announcing the signings because they weren't as good as anticipated?
