hey, we our rebounded osu 33-27.

we had a legit chance to win BUT..

mike scott & Q we're out-of-sync offensively..

we gave osu too many open looks from 3-pt land (blown defensive assignments)

too many unforced turn-overs

tired legs in 2nd hallf = a lot of missed shots we normally would make

never-the-less.. we can learn from this game & make adjustments.. i LIKE our hustle.. i LIKE the way we crashed the boards.. we have determination & talent.. we're athletic & quick.. we're well coached & disciplined.. the future is bright!

Hate to see the loss, but they will learn from it and this is the best team that they will play in the regular season and they played them on their home court. A neutral site would make a difference. So would playing together for a couple of months. A game like this will help come March.

Go Flashes! Time to take out the Titans!

I didn't even listen to the second half because I, quite simply, could not take any more Needless. A quality D I program and the play-by-play man has to be some CLOWN???!!! He seems to try to combine play-by-play with "color", and does a game as if he is on TV, not radio. Why can't they hire somebody who will just accurately call the action? It wouldn't be difficult; just listen to any of the scores of play-by-play men who do frickin' high school games in this part of Ohio very, very well, and hire one of them. I don't even care if the guy would not be a "homer". I just want to know what is happening, WHEN it's happening, the score, and the time remaining. Surely, that is not too much to ask!!!

needle sucks.. that's the long & short of it..

the question is, how do we convey that to upper mgt? (L kennedy)

e-mails? hand-written letters? phone messages? i know from personal experience that he does respond to e-mails.

I feel for the ones who had to endure Mr. Needle. Thankfully I didn't have to. Bring back Steve Sefner !!! ;-)

My thoughts from "The Schott":

-Great effort last night until late in the second half. I remarked to my father that these guys are playing hard and that there was some serious floor burn action happening. This, I am sure will continue the entire season.

-Others have posted that this team is a "work in process" and I agree. Last night I saw too much "individual" and not enough "team" which will be addressed and worked on getting ready for MAC play. On several occasions Q would drive down the lane and try to create something that wasn't there. An extra pass would have payed off with a bucket. I do agree that Q has way more upside and will be a force to be reckoned with soon.

-The experience of playing a team with the talent OSU has and in that kind of environment can only help this team come Feb. and March. They get another shot of big time hoops at Duke in a month. I look for a much improved product.

-The Shottenstien Center is amazing. That is one of the great recruiting tools in all of college hoops. When we were up 5 at one time early I thought I was watching college hoops in heaven. Reality hit in the second half though. I will post some pics if I get time.

The Schostein is an awsome place to watch a game. I saw a couple State Campionships there.
As for the game, I was happy to see the rebounding rebounded from IUPUI. Not so happy about losing. Now, I'll root on Ohio State to rock everyone in the Big 10. After all, I was a huge Michigan fan after they beat us in 2000/01.
I do think that playing these games aginst physical teams will only help us in the future. Playing in the BCA, especially aginst OSU, and playing Duke will prepare us for the later past of the season.

I for one am proud of the Bball team. I cannot wait until the Duke game. I would give my right leg to go to that game. Osu is tough and they are highly ranked for a reason. But this team needs more time to gel so they can be firing on all cylinders for MAC play. Can we get tickets for the DUKE game or are they all gone?

My inside sources tell me to be happy with Needle as he barely beat out Ellen alexander to be the Voice of the Flashes ;-)

Of course, wish we would have won. Most, but not all, is correctable:

1. After watchng a tape of the first half, lots of those turnovers were on the "extra" pass. A good portion of the time, the guy making the "extra" pass was Q. It's time and experience.

2. We missed a God awful amount of point blank shots the entire game.

3. The team did go away from it's plan the second half, resulting in many missed rotations. Interesting to read Gates admit post game" The young guys stuck with the plan. The more experienced guys took things on their own. We apologized to them."

Not as easily correctable:

Our lack of size. Parks may do okay by the end of the season, but our firiend from Brazil can't get here fast enough.

There was a lottery set up for the few tickets that were given to us. It was for season ticket holders and Blue and Gold donors if I am not mistaken. I think the lottery is closed, but it wouldn't hurt to ask them..

Being a single voice of a basketball game is a tricky proposition. Maybe couple a good play-by-play guy (maybe that can be Needle if it is his primary focus) and a homer color guy (say an ex-player). It wouldn't kill them to get a Bryan Bedford on the radio for a spell (if he's still working at the university).
