Finishing 22-7 is a fantastic season considering where this program has been in the past.
I think a lot of people, myself included, forget that this team has been without it's top scorer and rebounder for the last part of the season. Rick Pietri is to be commended for the way the team played without Whitney Woodard down the stretch. In my mind, we certainly would have defeated Denver in the SBC tourney and maybe won the whole the thing if she had been there. I also believe that she would have been the difference last night against FSU.
Next season looks bright with a great recruiting class that has some size and almost every key player returning, except for Sara Carter. If Woodard can recapture her freshman form, I think the Jags will be dancing next March.

Ditto, AJ. What a fantastic game last night....they hung in there with those giants the whole way. When Martello got hurt, you could tell it took the wind out of our sails for a little bit, and there were 1 or two calls that hurt us.
I was very impressed and proud of the support that showed up. They announced about 1,600 but it sure seemed like at least 3,000. Imagine what that already-electric atmosphere would have been like if it were not Spring Break.
I'm looking forward to their next season....we will miss Sara, but Danyel has proven herself ready to take the point. Can't wait to see these new recruits. Go Jags!

Double ditto. I used to hate women's basketball but watching Rick Pietri's girls play is a true pleasure and something that we as Jag fans and alumni can really be proud of. We lost last night because they had too much size. If Woodard is healthy we are still playing, maybe even in the NCAAs. We are going to miss Sara because she is a true floor general but Donyell has proven that she will be an excellent replacement and a better offensive presence. Rick is now bringing in top notch talent and we will have some size next year which will make us very hard to beat. Woodard was our only real post presence this year and with the twins coming in we will have a more balanced inside-out offense next year. GO JAGS!

I, too, attended the game. This team really has heart. Next year should be a great one. Sara will be missed, but the returning players will be exciting to watch.

I went to my first "standalone" Lady Jags game to give them some support for their WNIT appearance (I've seen the endings of a few men/women doubleheaders and that's it). My heart goes out to the ladies who gave it everything they had. I'm glad I went and have decided I'll have to attend more Lady Jags games in the future. I had no idea that women's D-I basketball was as good as it is and played at the high talent level it is. I came away from the game wondering how the Lady Jags could do against a high quality 6A high school boy's basketball squad, leaning more toward the women pulling out a victory.... IF the game was called close. Your thoughts?
