Here is some news from spring practice. The top 6 LB's on the spring depth chart are; First team MLB Stan Smith6-1,235 SLB Herschel Robinson 6-1,225 (Walk on from ULM)WLB Tyler Norman 6-2,215. Second Team MLB Mack Fair 6-1,230 SLB Mark Risher 6-2,225 WLB James Roberts 6-2,210. Ty Green is a prop.

In RB news,we have another walk-on named Ron Vaughn#4 5-10,195. Levier#22 looks good and is the largest TB we have, but he is having problems learning the system. Chester Johnson is not eligible, could be gone. Smothers was moved to WR.

Other walk-on news, former St. Augustine OL Ricky Marquez 6-4,330 will be eligible in the fall. He needs 10 hours. Marquez was highly touted coming out of St. Augustine High, but because of grades he signed with a Miss JC. He enrolled at UL after one year in JC and should add more depth in the fall.

Just got back from Olde Tyme :D and ran into one of my good friends Chad Bordelon, a walk-on center. He says things are going great at practice right now. He said the team morale is sky high and they really think they can shock the SBC this year. I've never doubted him once in my life, so I believe him when he says all this stuff.

GEAUX CAJUNS!!!

As I was leaving Monday I stopped by and saw the running backs practicing blocking. Levier was getting some "pointers" from Dwight Lindon. Good to see Dwight providing some senior leadership.

That was the best news I have read in a while. I have been curious about Ron Vaughn for a while. Where is he from? Also I looked Marquez, St. Augustine H S up in my Fall 2002 Football magazine. According to the magazine his name is Darren Marquez. LSU and Memphis offered him scholarships, while Auburn, Colorado, Tulane and Florida had been eyeing him for a while. If this is the same guy he has added some 30 Lbs. I sure hope that he gets the 10 hours.

I would also like to know who Chad Wisler is and what schools he has attended.
Just keep the good news coming.

I believe Wisler attended Tuerlings, Cajunman02 would know if he did for sure. I saw Marquez at practice Monday (he was in street cloths). I don't know how much he weighs but I would not want to line up against him. I am telling you guys who have not seen our O-line recently, these guys are freaking HUGE and I don't mean fat, I mean HUGE. We should run the ball with greater authority this season.

Actually Swamp I was talking to Dwight and he said he was a junior b/c he was getting his year back, so we'll have him next year too. That should really help Levier develop into the running back we need him to develop into. 04-cheers

I know of no Chad Wisler that went to Teurlings. There are only 3 Teurlings grads on the team, that I know of, Chad Bordelon, Kale Wildbur, and David Schexnaider (son of Nelson).

I could not remember if it was Wisler or Wildbur that you knew.

Yes,you are correct. It is Darren Marquez and there was another highly recruited lineman from St. Augustine that year as well. He is confident that he will get his 10 hours. I will find out more about Vaughn.
