Many jobs still up in the air but just a quick breakdown of positions that will have new starters due to graduation
Both Wide Receivers: right now Senior Kemmie Lewis and RS-Freshman Jordan Jackson are listed above a very talented and deep group. IMO, These two will be pushed by Senior Bill Sampy (top returning receiver) and true Freshman Eddie Brown.
Tight End: Don't know who is listed as the starter now, could be Senior Lawrence Johnson or JC signee Tommy Briggs. Another JC signee Xavier Campbell will be here in the fall. Hard to say who will start, all are HUGE and should help with run blocking. I guess it will come down to who is the best combo receiver/blocker. Also in fall add true freshman Erik Jones to the mix.
Right Guard: Right now it looks like JC signee Justin Ernest is the starter and back up by Senior Bryan Lloyd, of course a lot of things can change between now and September. Will probably know more by the Spring Game.
Tailback: Even if Chester Johnson can and does return he will be hard pressed to win the job. It looks like true Freshman Abdule Levier's to lose but it can be lost. Senior Dwight Lindon and Sophomore Josh Harrison as well as walk-on Ronald Vaughn (don't know much about him other than he won some scout team awards last season) will push Levier.
The entire defensive line: Good news is most all the players have game experience and a couple even have a few starts under their belt.
At DT we have So. Marshall Delesdernier, Sr. Ken Haynes, JC transfer Curtis Isaac, Senior Justin Taylor (did not play last season due to injury), and So. Travis Ferguson (not participating in contact during the spring due to injury). Coming in the fall, true freshman Clay Bridges.
At DE, we have Sr. Travis Bass, Jr. Eugene Kwarteng, So. Tony Hills, RS-Fr. Jason Guidry (I had earlier reported that he was no longer with the team, I believe the coach I spoke with confused Guidry for fellow recruit Paul Eli who was a prop and is no longer with the team). Coming in the fall will be JC transfer Joe Bradley who could very well end up starting and true freshmen Elijah Nelson and Rodney Hardeway.
Stong side Linebacker: Guru reports that walk-on Herschel Robinson is now listed as the starter. I don't know much about him other than he won some scout team awards last season (I am guessing he was sitting out after transfering in to get eligible). Behind him is RS-Freshman Mark Risher, I have heard good things about Risher.
Weak side Linebacker: Jr. Tyler Norman will most likely start here. He played Whip Safety in the alignement used last year. He also started a few games. Behind him is Jr. James Roberts who started a few games at Rover Safety last season but has bulked up enough to switch to LB.
I am sure will see some good battles for every position (with the possible exception of QB) as we are much deeper in numbers and talent than we have been in a very long time.

Hound or Guru, What's the take on GW Rudick at SLB & Torres Kingsby at FS? I've heard they are making some noise.

The other day I was told that Rudick was starting at SLB, but I don't know. I will see what I can find out Saturday. Have not heard with Kingsby but was not anywhere near the DB's on Monday. Will try and get by there Saturday also.

Rudick was starting @ SLB, but there is some bad news which may end his opportunty.

don't forget starting at MLB will be Stanley Smith. I've seen him on campus and he has put on some muscle.

Stanley started last year so I did not include him but with the switch to a 4-3 and his new position of MLB I probably should have. I saw him at practice and you are right about the added muscle.

I hope it has nothing to do with the kidney injury he suffered 2 seasons ago.

I hope things work out, but it's really something that I cannot comment on in this forum. You'll find out soon enough. What bothers me is that he was ready to play & he'll not be replaced with a comparable player, unless another LB is moved to his spot. I don't think the boy from ULM is the answer.

I was a little suprised to see him at SLB instead of MLB. I thought Fair or Risher and even possibly Burkhalter would start at SLB. Whatever is going on I wish G.W. the best.
