UNT's first year lady's softball team has a long way to go with an 11-36 record, but they're learning how to win. Ladys took 2 games today (New Mexico & Northern Colorado) for a modest 3 game win streak and the lead in the UNT/Wells Fagro Tournament. The ladys also have a previous win over Oklahoma State.
FireFightinRick posted on gomeangreen.com that a good crowd enjoyed todays games......very encouraging.

Congrats Ladys! Mean Green take tourney with 5 in a row. Not bad for a first year softball program.
Mean Green Softball Wins Tourney Title
DENTON (3/28/04)- The North Texas softball team captured the Mean Green/Wells Fargo Classic title with two wins in the final day of action on Sunday afternoon at Denia Park.
The Mean Green (13-36) defeated Harvard, 4-3, in eight innings and then held on to beat New Mexico, 7-6, in the last game of the tournament. NT has now won a record five-straight games.
Pitcher Katy Maxey, catcher Christen Jonse, first baseman Heather Bostic, outfielder Kelei Walker and designated player Susan Waters were all named to the all-tournament team.
NT pitcher Mandy Hacker helped lead the Mean Green to victory against Harvard, allowing only two hits in the final five innings of the game.
North Texas tied the game at three in the third inning against Harvard with singles by Bostic, Walker and Waters. In the top of the eighth, freshman Monica Garcia singled, which moved Waters to third after being placed at second. Jonse reached on an error, scoring Waters to take the lead. Hacker forced a groundout, a pop fly and struck out the final batter to seal the win.
Garcia went 2-for-3 in both games. The right fielder batted .467 in the tournament with two doubles.
The Mean Green used a four-run fifth inning to take a 6-0 lead against New Mexico. The Lobos responded with six runs of their own, helped by two NT errors, to tie the game at 6-6. Walker scored in the sixth inning off a Stephanie Cranmer single after getting on base with a double to give NT the lead.
Maxey took the win for the Mean Green after relieving Hacker in the fifth inning. She held New Mexico scoreless the rest of the game.
North Texas returns to action on Tuesday, March 30 with a doubleheader against Prairie View A&M at Denia Park. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 pm.

Congrats to the Lady Mean Green, I was very glad to see softball added in Denton. I truly wish you guys would add baseball :D I do not bring it up here often but I am very proud of our Lady Cajuns softball team. So far this season they are 30-4 Overall, 0-0 Sun Belt, 12-1 Home, 6-1 Away, 12-2 Neutral and are ranked #10 in the latest NFCA poll (pretty much where they have been all season). We have a great softball tradition and I wish you guys well in establishing your own tradition at UNT.

ULL always had super strong Baseball and Softball teams. It is awesome we now have Softball and hopefully within the next few years they will add baseball since we are sitting a hotbed of talent in the DFW Metro area.
Good luck to the ladies as they continue to improve.
