from today's DNJ:

"MT should be strongest at the skills positions on offense and at defensive line on the opposite side of the football.

Conversely, holes in the offensive line and in the defensive secondary are among the Blue Raiders’ chief concerns.

The kicking game also holds two pivotal vacancies."

On Middle Tennessee's quarterback situation, this is what the DNJ had to say:

"...Heading into spring, the Blue Raiders find one of the most competitive battles under center where three signal-callers have a legitimate shot at winning the starting job.

Junior Josh Harris and redshirt sophomore Clint Marks each served in a lead role last season while two-year starter Andrico Hines battled through nagging injuries.

Redshirt freshman Sam Hunt, meanwhile, enters a three-way battle for the starting job and fellow redshirt freshman Patrick Jackson also joins the mix, likely in a reserve role.

“We’re going to have great competition, and that’s exciting to me,

Who do you think is the early favorite to win the starting QB job?

If based on last year's performance, Clint Marks. He was the best QB even then as a redshirt freshman. Harris was very close as well - he came in after Hines and Marks went down in the Game with the Cajuns and played well. I thought Marks AND Harris were far better than Andrico Hines last year and so did most of those who watched the games. Hines was a great "athlete," but Marks and HArris seemed to be far better QUARTERBACKS.

Hunt is being touted much the same way that Hines was touted which makes me uneasy given how inconsistent Hines was through out his career and the coach seemed to have his head up his butt on that. Hunt hasn't taken a snap in a real game, so I will wait to judge from what I see on the field.

But I feel better about the fall just knowing that Hines affair is over at Middle Tennessee.

If our coaches ever look at another juco transfer as QB for our offense they ought to be tarred and feathered and ridden out of town on a rail.

I remember going to an Ole Miss-MT game a couple of years ago and could not understand why Counts (who started) was taken out and replaced with Hines (who was unimpressive) when Counts did not appear hurt 03-confused

No one ever heard a explanation on why Counts was pulled early in that Ole Miss game.

We are going to need 3 QB's if our O-Line is weak...Do you remember the last time we played the Gators? I've never seen an Offensive line COLLAPSE as soon as the ball is snapped until that game...It was awful...As far as Hines, yes, I'm GLAD he is gone...Good guy, but I've seen much better QB's at MT. :bang:
