I believe the policy is on game day you can have alcohol anywhere outside on campus as long as (obviously) you are 21. Not positive but that was my understanding when I moved into the dorms 5 years ago. Thats what the policy was then... Not really sure if that helps.

Back in the day . . . during the 35-0 streak . . . the policy was to have enough to share. ;-)

Being gone from Ohio for more than three decades, I can only guess that UT officials would want to insure legal aged drinking only and not allow containers of any variety into the Glass Bowl. [I was thinking, as is the practice at Iowa State, glass bottles are prohibited in tailgating areas. But then Toledo is the Glass Capital of the World.]

It was mentioned by one of the attendees (Mark Standriff's father) at last nights Coach's Show that there may be a concerted effort to monitor/police underage drinking in and around the Glass Bowl this season. I guess we'll have to see. Students beware.

When I first enquired of the Athletic Dept. on this policy, I was told that anywhere is ok EXCEPT inside the Glass Bowl.

I would caution folks, however. If there is going to be a concerted effort to police underage drinking, I'm fairly confident that the same will be true for those who over-indulge. Enjoy yourself, enjoy the game, but leave sober. Lives depend on it.

OK, so what is the deal with some Ohio schools and alcohol? At Kent State and OSU you couldn't have alcohol at tailgating (yeah right). But you could drink in the stadium at KSU. 01-wingedeagle

At Akron we could drink while tailgating. Are these state, county laws? 03-confused

I was impressed with Ames/ISU police departments program:
You PAULA? (Possessing Alcohol Under Legal Age)
Me Doebs. (Refers to Ames police officer nicknamed Doebs.)
[These phrases are on a light-up button displayed by younger adults verified as being 21 yrs of age or more handed out by police officer patroling the tailgating sections. This community policing effort has paid off for the Ames and Iowa State communities. While it has reduced under aged drinking it hasn't yet prevented theives from stealing treasured symbols from tailgating vehicles 03-hissyfit ]
