I have to agree with this statement. Overall, I was treated very well by OSU fans. The people who we tailgated near us were very polite. It's not the alumni or students (generally) who are the problem. It's the guy who never went to college and wants to be a part of a winning program and then end up adopting OSU because they live in Ohio. Fine. There are knuckleheads like that everywhere - but I found there to be a disproportionate amount of them in Ohio. OSU seems to be the only game in town. At least in Michigan, there are two big universities to get behind for the townies.
I DID HOWEVER ALMOST GET IN A FIGHT and you Huskies would be proud of me...
I'm sitting with about 12 of my fraternity brothers in 35A in the south endzone. Two rows behind me are some obnoxious OSU fans. The straw that broke the camels back was when this guy (beer belly and a goate) says "eat some dirt!" after Wolfe's 51 yard run. I call him on it and say something like, "What a gay thing to say after Wolfe just torched you for 50 yards. You don't make a comment like that when someone just had a big play. You say that when you stop our guy for a loss".
He was stressed by my logic. So he said, "why don't you look at the scoreboard?"
I said, "I'm not talking about the scoreboard. I'm talking about what a stupid comment you made."
I forced him to get back on track with the point. Unsuccessful in diverting my attention, he says, "YOU'RE gay".
Then I said, "I'll show you who's gay. YOU ARE!" as I shoved my wedding ring in his face, "where's YOUR ring?".
That was pretty much the end of that. Everyone around me, NIU and OSU fans alike, thought that was pretty good.
Good to see you at the game. I would have been right behind you.

I think the rest of the Road Crew will agree with me, but the OSU fans that came and talked to us (and interacted with us away from the Bus) were the nicest fans I've ever met, in any sport. Then again, we were in the $50 per day RV lot...
Thumbs up overall.

I have to say that overall the Ohio State fans were very nice to the band. When we were marching in there were no harsh words or anything thrown (which is more than I can say for some places we've played) and the fans thanked us for coming.
The only bad things were one alumni told me, "sit down you guys aren't worth blocking my view anyway"....this was in the skull session
and when there were people try to trip a couple people while we were marching by tents....I say it wasn't a big deal cause it was only 1 or 2 people and they were drunk.
Funny side note, when we marched by 1 tent one guy yelled, "go ball state!" I had to laugh cause that was the most creative thing I heard all day.
Overall Ohio State was great hosts, so I'd like to thank them for making the bands trip fun, and painless.

Good to see you too, Bart. I'm surprised you recognized me! I wish I could have done some tailgating with you. Guess I'll have to look you up at a home game this year. You are one of the most enthusiastic Huskie fans I know!

OSU fans - why are you still over here? Shouldn't you be worrying about Texas now? Is it just your arrogance that you have to post over here and start stuff with the NIU fans and the one Rocket fans that posted on here?

Nevere lose sight of the fact that you can encounter alot of courteous people & plenty of rude , foolish idiots on highways, in mall parking lots, at Wrigley Field, the Cell , Huskie Stadium and most any place a large number of people can be found. The number of road apples among us is fewer than the sportsfans with class but they sure can be annoying despite their overall lack of numbers.
BGSU has little respect for NIU fans based upon what behaviors by hundreds of bad apple Huskie fans have done in the past from among the many other thousands who disapprove of such conduct.

I wish you would have made it to the Huskie Bus. I would have liked to have met you. Sorry MD02, I got to the stadium late-went with some of those at the Bus. Maybe I can see you guys next year.

I had a pleasent experience in Columbus.
I met the news anchor from NBC on Friday at the winking lizzard. He came up and introduced himself as John. He was wearing an NIU alumni assoication polo on. I didn't realize until the next day who he was but strangely enough I was walking around the OSU stadium at about 11 am trying to find the RV lot with my girlfriend when I spotted him again.
He was wearing his old niu jersey, #84. He was such a nice guy and offered us free beer and we hung out there for almost 3 hours up until we went into the stadium. He met up with many of the NIU special teams players from 89-91??
Anyways he and his friends were class acts all the way. His buddies even took us over to a tent in the big donor lot (next to the stadium) where there were 3 nice cars, 3 tents hooked up together, many chairs, a 50 inch plasma which happened to be showing the Vandy vs. Mich game, a huge grill, and the guy was giving us mini bottles of 3 olives vodka and stuff to mix it in. Far and away the best part about the guys setup was he rented a port-o-potty and filled it with beer to keep the po-po off his back.
John Ivanic is a real class act and a model of what being a huskie alumnus is all about.

Everyone we ran into was really nice. Even the drunken frat boys on greek row as we were walking back to the hotel. We had a very good time in Columbus. Of course I tried to maintain a low profile and treat them with some class which makes a difference.

I was very impressed by OSU's fans' ability to spell their state name and, all by themselves, figure out how to divide their stadium in half and into quarters. Well done! ;-)
